Calling people "freaks" was mature?

What would you call Liberal bible thumpers like Jimmah Cattah, Al & Tipper Gore, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and so on - when so many Liberals openly hate anyone with religious views? If they're not freaks among their own then what are they. They certainly don't fit in... so yes, I'd say that not only was it mature, but it was accurate, too.

LOL.........Liberals?
Hun don't you mean conservatives?

I can't say that I will miss Jerry Falwell, but at least now he will get the opportunity to see if his beliefs were correct or not. Personally I think Ernest Angley puts on a better show. When he knocks those supposed cripples in a wheelchair onto their knees after they "walk", the crowd goes wild and then he jumps around so his hairpiece looks like a rabid wolverine on his head. Its classic comedy at its best.

If I say I don't care, does that make me a bad person??

Falwell promoted intolerance to others lifestyle and beliefs. He blamed all other lifestyles and religious beliefs on Sept 11th, come on, the guy was a jurk. I don't wish death on anyone, yet right now, he is being judged, an I hope he is being judged as he judged others, with a narrow one track mind.

Any one have any marshmallows??

Please refer to articles or quotes that would allow you to reach the conclusion of comparing Carter to Falwell..... I can recall few Americans on either side of the aisle who have lived heir life with such compassion and dignity as Jimmy Carter....Sanity the more you post the more you make it obvious that only someone unable to formulate an opinion of their own would still place any merit whatsoever on what you have to say.

You can get snippy with me, I don't care - I'm not overly sensitive, like some people around here are. But no, those people are all big Libs, "Hun"

For you to say you don't care doesn't make you a bad person.  Relishing in it in my opinion does.

You know, Mr Fallwell did do a few good things.  His fight with Larry Flynt put several protections on our First Amendment rights into the common law, for example.

In any event, he spent too much time politicing and not enough time in the pulpit, in my opinion.  I suppose now he will find out if he was right all those years.

dg, I agree 100% that Falwell was nothing like President Carter, who I respect tremendously. But why didn't anyone object when Thompson compared Falwell to Hitler or Sadaam?

If you're unaware that Jimmah Cattah & Co are HUGE bible-thumpers then there's nothing to be done to help you. The point is that Libs are bible-thumping _________'s too, and all your pathetic attempts at lowly insults won't change the basic facts

LOL Lashra, it's sad but true about that kind of stuff. But again LOL at "rabid wolverine"

Level,
i agree.  He wasn't someone who directed killings and was involved with them.  As far as i am concerned he believed in many things i also find abhorrent.  i was more upset with people relishing in his death that i got upset with.

I feel pity for the man, just as I did for Saddam and as I have for any other person who was unjust and died I would want answers to 'why' and 'how' they could be so unjust and so narrow-minded. Thats me though, I am ALWAYS asking questions and always seeking answers.

I remember being forced to watch Falwell on tv when I was younger, I questioned his morals and ideals, and in my family that is like treason. No doubt, I will be hearing from my family tonight and when we get together in July, this will be a BIG topic, I can only hope that things won't get ugly. I may have to stay out of town an extra day.

Exacty, minnetar. I didn't find Jerry Falwell to be a good man, but it's too easy, and almost always wrong, when people compare jerks to Adolph Hitler, etc.

My sincere condolences to his family.

See how easy that is folks? Decorum is for your own sake, not necessarily the other guys. I’m no fan of the guy but kicking somebody when their down (and you can’t get much more down than dead)... I mean really, how rude!

If you’re going to get your jollies over someone’s death, why not go all the way and join the Westboro Baptist Church?

I don't think anybody is getting "their jollies" about the fact that is he dead. I think people are happy that we will no longer have to deal with his bullshit. It's sad that it's his death that ended his spewing of hate, but that fact is that when you spew hatred and wish death on countless people, those you wished death on aren't going to be very sad to see you go and will be happy they no longer have to deal with you.

We may not have wished death on him, as he did us, but that doesn't mean we are obligated to feel some sort of mourning for him.

I call them extremely conservative people. However, the use of insult is never mature, though we all do it. It does mean, however, that if you wish to invalidate the arguments of your opponent by calling them infantile, then you must hold yourself to a higher standard. Otherwise your own position will be invalidated by the same weapon you wield yourself.

And what was all that garbage about "Family Values?"
Who gets to define them anyway?
One time I called his donation line and gave them hell just for the fun of it.
I said; "You guys(Evangelicals) are so screwed up no wonder the Protestants don't want anything to do with you!"

Well said, DG. Or dems/liberals to Stalin, that one doesn't work well, either.
