Again, nobody is getting the jollies about it. People are just happy they don't have to deal with his hatred and that those who spew his hatred no longer have a leader. Would you blame the Jewish for being rid of Hitler? It's pretty much the same - Falwell would have killed us all if he could. He certainly prayed for our death enough and believed AIDs was sent to cleanse the world of us.


The death and "getting their jollies from" being referred to is Jesus', not Jerry. See post #59 & 60.

Grrr.  What most people don't understand (or care about because it involves reptiles) is that those snake handlers are animal abusers.  It's not one bit difficult to freehandle venomous snakes, and mostly snakes are so naturally gentle that they rarely even try to bite if they are only being picked up gently.  The fact that the handlers don't often get bit is not a testament to their faith but to the generally docile temperment of most venomous snakes when they are approached correctly.  Unfortunately the religious nuts are basically using the snakes as a stand-in for the Devil and handling them to show their mastery, so they don't often get treated or housed very humanely.  There are a few exceptions, but for the most part snakes used in these kinds of services are taken out of the wild (sometimes illegally) housed in filthy nasty boxes, not given sufficient (or any) food or water, and abused until they die.  Or after mistreatment but before they die, they are released in unappropriate sites that are not the original habitat.   That is not only a death sentence for them but a potentially huge problem for local populations as well due to parasite and disease vectors and overloading existing resources in the habitat.  These fanatics are not exactly taking GPS locality data and microchipping their subjects, so even if they say they have a catch and release policy, it's likely to suck.

Wildlife abusers are some more people that I'd happily shoot and grind up for fertilizer, since they will never do the planet any damn good any other way.  Unfortunately the government does not agree and in fact tends to get pretty mad when you make their taxpayers into fertilizer, so I've had to restrain these urges.  Sometimes it's pretty damn difficult however.

it is not the same. He said his beliefs  Many disagreed as i did. He never directed people killing others and that is where you are wrong.  He had enlisted thousands who believed in what he said but never asked anyone to carry out that belief.  He was wrong but how sick are you relish his death.   Think about it.  You have to feel sorry for that person and their family.

Status: offline 		fast reply - most folks disagree on his stances.  i think we all understand that.  Another human being has passed.  No we don't agree with his principles but don't we have some thought for his family and friends?  i abhor his beliefs but yes i feel sorry for his family and friends and i have found so many of the responses to be totally abhorrent.  Your responses have been no better than what he believed in so you have basically degraded yourselves.

That is very civil as you have basically denigrated yourself to his level.  So who is worse?  Someone who revels in a man who they disgree with death or opposes him while he is alive?  Did you happen to do that?   i am sorry but i find your position more abhorrent since he can no longer defend himself.

People truly amaze me as to how hateful they are.  god knows how many we disagree with but for them to pleasure in death is just amazing.  i am just blown away by the responses.  Hell i despise the man too.

Wouldn't he then be celebrating his own death? I mean, Christians go on forever about how they can't wait to be with the Lord. Why should I not agree? He's where he wants to be, and, evidently, where countless others want him as well.

Status: offline 		     I never liked him.  I can't think of any statements he made that I ever agreed with.  It was fun to watch him debate though, and he was gifted as a speaker.  I'm glad he won't have any firther influence, but he didn't have to die for that to happen.  I'd have settled for hearing that he and Rosie O'Donnell were lost at sea together.

Ya know...everyone has a Mother...and everyone is loved by someone.

Falwell had his fans (usually they were blind, indoctrinated buffoons, but he was probably a nice fellow in his day to day)...I wasn't one of them.

I've never been a fan of anyone who arbitrarily was capable of deciding "Gods will", even though he himself (although he may have disagreed) was not God, and by virtue, wasn't actually capable of determining Gods will.

I have a feeling that the Bible is filled with truth, however, because it was written (and by virtue, construed and discerned) by men...it has a few flaws.

I'd like to believe it's true, but I'd also like to believe that chocolate ice cream can make me fuck for days without rest.

While I would suspect the latter has more flaws than the former, I'd also suspect that in the end, Jesus was a really good man, his saints were probably less so, and in the interim, we've fucked up a lot of shit.

So...as to Falwell, I'm confident Jesus probably liked the guy in most respects and...when he see's him (sometime earlier today) he probably said..."Welcome my good and faithful son....and by the way....WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING ON ALL THAT SHIT YOU'VE BEEN SPEWING FOR THE LAST MOTHERFUCKING LAST 17 YEARS????"

Status: offline 		Other than the fact that theres one less  hate mongering zealot in the world, i have absolutely no feeling one way the other over his death.   I'm sure he had loved ones who will mourn him.. To be honest....death, in old age, is as natural as life.  The secret, is leaving reasons for those you leave behind, to celebrate your life.
