like i said tesla proved it nearly 100 years ago, you can build circuits that demonstrate it, what do you think hertz had to back down to and admit when he admitted that tesla was right?    Like i said your science is 1/2 right anyway :)

can you provide the full data on this so that this can be replicated to prove it?

That theory would be refuted by the fact that the percentage of Americans who believe the Bible should be taken literally is LOWER than it was decades ago.  This was in the summary of the Gallup report.

Besides, those subjects weren't exactly "removed" from public schools.  When did they teach Episcopalian theology in public school?

I went to a church school, and took classes in Bible History, Chruch History/ Episicopalian Theology, and comparative world religions.  They were all trimester courses so we spent one year on all three.  Seriously studying the bible and the development of modern Christianity makes a belief in fundamentalism virtually impposible.  I think removing such subjects from the public schools has led to an increase in ignorant fundamentalism in our society.

i dont have the tesla statement handy because i have so freaking much tesla stuff i would have to read volumes to find it.   See you all only know about TEMW, and of course Tesla WOrked mainly in LEMW's.

CL thought i was joking in another thread when i brought it up but i wasnt :)

Oh yeh the :LEMW is about 1.5 times the speed of TEMW

Electronics has nothing to do with the speed of light.. electrons tend to travel at roughly [c/10], or, roughly, 3*10^7 m/s, in a circuit, if I remember rightly.  At this speed, the relativistic effect is about half of a percent.

i never debated the speed of light, the debate or the refutation was that the speed of light was the speed limit

You're aware that, should even a spec of dust achieve the speed of light, it would have infinite energy- more than the entirely universe put together- right?

The speed limit is c because, well, you can't even get to c- theoritically, you can just get close.  Going to c requires infinite energy- and, since infinity is a concept, not an actual amount, that's impossible.

Telsa never refuted this.  He died before relativity came out, if I remember history correctly.

that it has sold many copies is of no doubt; that it is the oldest written fiction, that is of doubt. the version that you read is quite different from the version read before the early 1600's, and vastly different still than the various books written before the decision was made about which writers to include in the bible.

The Bible says what King James wanted it to say, and if you don't do your own translation from Aramaic, then you don't HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT SAYS!

i think my brother has a copy of the original script before translation into latinthat was done by augustine so it should be availiable for those interested in doing their own translation

I'm sorry, but with me, you're going to have to cite a reason you believe something to be untrue.. just randomly saying it doesn't make it so.

Therein lies the fundamental premise of this thread.  Faith.  He can randomly say it is so, because, for him it is so.

He does not need to provide proof, he can be as snarky as he wants, whatever, but we are dealing with a mind that is closed to the negation of it's Faith.

I dont recall the passage exactly, but there is a statement where somebody refers to Jesus making the statement "I am your rock and your castle."

I read the bible a long time ago.  It was interesting.  Had some nice stories.  Had some interesting lessons.  Had a lot of interesting lessons that worked in the context of the times it was written in, but not so much relevance to modern day society.

What I have always found curious is how many people who profess to me that the bible is Truth, upon being questioned, indicate that they have never read the book.  They rely on the interpretation provided to them by others, as well as a deeply felt Faith, as evidence to substantiate their beliefs.

If it works for them, I say they should go with it.  What upsets me is when they try to inflict it on me.

Sinergy

Naw, that's okay.  If you want to look for it, go ahead, I'll be glad to explain it.  Still, the man wasn't even alive to refute the theories you're claiming he did.  That, in and of itself, should say something.

He may've done some guess work- like we might guess about warp-drives in Star Trec-esque space ships, but, it's just guess work and fanstascy until science catches up.  Which it has, in this case.

yah i heard somehting like close to 300 books were "deemed" unworthy of including in the bible.

Ah, yes... The Book of Rufus:

Rufus: He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the shit that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, televangelism. But especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.

Bethany: Having beliefs isn't good?

Rufus: I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant.
