Seriously...Does anyone seriously believe that this young man was, in any way, shape or form, a "victim?" The teacher in question is a fox...her booking photo really doesn't do her justice. I saw this story on CNN and they were talking about how "scarred" this "child" would be. Well, if he is scarred, it's going to be the shame and embarassment and mockery he's going to go through for the rest of his life as the idiot who ruined a fantastic thing! The student should be on trial here, not the girl! She was booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail. The alleged relationship between the 16-year-old boy and Mally, a second-year teacher at the school, began in October, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The boy’s parents contacted the school, 3950 E. Bell Road, and its resource officer Wednesday morning about possible sexual misconduct between the teacher and their son.

Sixteen is too young IMO but... a kid that age has raging hormones & someone her age still has them. I can't place blame without real background. Folks do say there will be damage but when I was that age any kid that got a teacher seemed pretty damn happy to me. It was stupid of her to let this start or play out simply based upon her job and his age. She is the one that is supposed to be in control, so yeah I do think she should have stopped before it began. I was thinking something similiar tonight, about all those that have to keep a secret life secret due to jobs that require morality codes. Not just teachers, but doctors.. police.. all those that have a real authority pre-established. It would be hard in my mind to be kinky and quiet about it towards the vast majority of people I know.

K, so who wants to explain what sort of "damage" this young man might suffer? Is he going to come to see sex as recreation? Is he going to have a hard time establishing intimacy and prefer physical gratification instead? Is he going to shy away from long term emotional committments and relationships? Have you read anything about the long-term effects of inappropriate sexual contact with adults during childhood? They're not the kind of thing you should use for comedic material. Or just Google "Vili Fualaau" and read about how his love affair with his schoolteacher ruined his life.

I'm a teacher - hence the brilliantly allusive and indeed elusive nom de clavier - and have been in some very difficult situations with teenage girls who have crushes. One, a couple of years ago now, would insist on closing the door every time we were together - she knew perfectly well what she was doing. Of course, we have to keep it open to avoid any suggestions of something going on. Another sent me a very explicit email and managed to imply that something was going on - of course all emails are checked and I was very lucky that under questioning she admitted she'd done it all "as a joke". Teachers are in a very difficult position with such accusations, since you are guilty until proven innocent - and even then it can be hard/impossible to get another job. A teacher, senior and highly respected, at our school has finally been found not guilty of molestation and abuse charges, 2 years after he had to be suspended as soon as the case came to light. He is unlikely ever to work again - schools say " We can't be too careful", parents say "No smoke without fire" and another life is ruined. Nothing happens to the lying child, of course. So it's not just the kids who can be ruined when messing around with stuff like this. And idiotic teachers who abuse their children like the one above (and make no mistake, if you knew anything about child psychology or, indeed, complex psycho-sexual techniques such as those involved in D/s, you would know that it is certainly abuse) harm the rest of us, too, because people correlate. He is going to have major problems with intimacy and trust. The fantasy and the reality of what happened are two very different things. The main problem is the abuse of power by the teacher. I completely agree that the teacher should be fired, but more because having a relationship with a student voilates the teacher's role as an impartial, neutral academic guide. I'm also not saying that it's OK, because it being illegal should be enough. For males it's doubly dangerous, as Decadent points out, because all that's needed is for a female to accuse a male and that's enough to damn him. Ven, the articles you cited all dealt with incest or involuntary sexual assault, which I would agree do have damaging effects on the victim. I didn't see any examples involving voluntary contact or contact initiated by the male though. Any involuntary contact should be prosecuted and definitely would damage the individual's ability to trust. I just find it amusing that so many pundits get on their high horses about how awful it is that these 16-18 year old young men are seducing their teachers. I can't think of a single case in which the young man in question self-reported this. Generally, it comes to light because he brags to his friends and the rumors get around, which is what happened in this case. It seems that the males involved are victims more of their own loud mouths. Edit to add: I know one of Ven's articles is about Vili Fualaau. I would hardly say his life has been ruined--the only black mark I see is his recent DUI conviction. If he was found driving drunk saying "she ruined my life," I would agree. But it just seems that he, like a good individual I know, made a bad decision to drive drunk. I don't see a causal relationship there.

If you read the whole story you will find that he has been dealing with the justice system and Letourneau being in prison while trying to help his mother raise their two young daughters since he was 13 years old. Have you examined your past to see if you too had visions of having sex with a very attractive teacher in your high school? I know I did. Did I act on this while I was still in school? NO! Did I approach a particular teacher AFTER I graduated? Yes and yes she was responsive. I was 18, still underage by the laws at that time, but no longer her student and no longer a threat to her position. I think almost every student in the school system fantazies about having an affair with a teacher. It is normal, it's just not justifable. I know many educators who are submissive in this lifestyle, and the reason is because they HAVE to be so dominant in their role as an educator. Furthermore, about half are "littles" and have the opportunity to live out the fantsy of having sex with the teach/principal in a safe and consentual manner. What you are referring to is not safe, and because of not only the age of the student but also the apparent mental capacity of the student the teacher took advantage of a situation that should never have occured. Besides that, if she's as much of a "Fox" as you describe her to be (yes I looked at her booking photo), why does she need to be suducing young boys? Why isn't she being seduced by men her own age, some of whom may have "littles" fantasies themselves.

What continually amazes me about American society, is how cases like this get so much publicity, at the same time there are thousands of homeless, runnaway kids out on the street that will sleep with anyone just to get a bath, a hot meal and a place to spend the night. THIS gets publicity from the public at large, but that same public accepts the practice of social services designed to help these children, instead turning them over to the authorites, who will return them to the situation they ran away from in the first place ... wash their hands ... and move on to the next case. This case is wrong ... but is like worrying about a drop of water, when it's pouring down rain.

When I was a senior in high school, one of the most popular teachers was an attractive 25 year old history teacher. All the jocks were in love with her, all the popular girls were her friends (as in, sleepover and going to the movies kind of friends). Halfway through the year, one of the major jocks told a couple of his friends he had been sleeping with her and provided photos/videos to prove it! Of course it wasn't long until everyone knew, including the school district, and she was fired and is currently going through the court process. He was a 17 year old boy. Of course he had hormones raging. And of course he liked the sexual encounters with her. But is that to say that there was no damage? He lost most of his friends, lost his full ride athletic scholarship to a private Christian university, and was essentially hounded by all the people in my small town, with accusations or commiserations. He still is not very social. Nothing good can come from teachers having sexual relations with their students. Absolutely nothing.
