fuck that china is a much bigger threat so lets PREEMPTIVELY blow them all to hell too, well after we take out korea who is KNOWN to be working on nukes.

Personally i think that there is no reason that the whole world should NOT like the good guys in the us and anyone that has a contrary opinion to the us should be wasted and the us should be the leader of the whole world just because we are such humanitarian good guys and we always respect other countries with our highest consideration

Status: offline 		I'm 56 and spent a lot of years in the military already but if they'd just go into Pakistan I'd enlist again to get a crack at alqeada and Bin Laden!

You know, I generally stay out of political threads. And I will not take sides here. But I just wanted to simply point out the simple fact that Bin Laden wasn't even "the original reason America went there in the first place". Remember? We went there because the White House, Pentagon, and CIA convinced Congress (and arguably the majority of Americans) that Sadam had "weapons of mass destruction". Bin Laden had absolutely nothing to do with it (originally). It wasn't until it was apparent that WoMDs would not be found that the government then began linking Bin Laden to Iraq.

What did Abraham Lincoln, at Gettysburg, tell us was the only reason worthy of mobilizing the Republic to War?

While I can understand the value of such a requirement, I don't believe I would vote for that Amendment.

There is another lovely war started by AnenecephalyBoy without a clear rationale for being there.

I am not in support of the war in Afghanistan on the face of it, but if somebody can provide some intelligent
reason why we are shooting cruise missiles at goat farmers I am willing to listen.  But then, I am a historian and I read books, and I saw what attempting to occupy Afghanistan did to the former Soviet Union.

I hope it works out for you Afghanistan war supporters; history suggests it will not.

As for how chasing bin Laden turned out, just because one fails doesn't mean they shouldn't have tried.

I suppose I can accept that argument on the face of it.

Edited to point out that the Taliban is no longer a factor, and Afghanistan has returned to a state ruled by various warlords.

Bin Laden and the terrorist network has been effectively neutralized and Bin Laden is either no longer there or
cannot be found.

Why exactly do we still have troops there?

Because we got sidetracked in Iraq, and did not do what we needed to get out, is my opinion, Sinergy. This has also let the Taliban regroup, so though we can claim some success there, we also have to admit that we've slid backwards, too. We're half-assing a lot of things over there, and I don't mean that as a slam at the men and women serving.

Very diplomatic way of putting it.

I would have pointed out that the mentally challenged incompetents who committed capital fraud to gain permission to send the US military to Iraq screwed the pooch, allowing the greatest military the world has ever seen to appear to the rest of the world to be under the command of a bunch of keystone cops unable to find their ass with both hands. 

I am not slamming the men and women serving, I am slamming the nitwits who sent them into harms way.
