I totally agree with this.  In fact I argee to the point that I dont give a squat if they get nothing done, anything to get the ruling assholes out.  No third party could do worse in destroying this counrty than the last few administrations

Lately when speaking with people, no matter their income bracket, or party affiliation, I have been asking one question "are you tired of the politics as usual method that all politicians seem to use?" , and I only get a yes back from it. The American people need to stand together on that one single answer. The foundation is good but the walls need to be pulled down on this house, and rebuilt. All the little things everyone argues about, from the war, to taxes, to foreign affairs, and domestic aid, will continue to get fucked up, until the politicians understand they work for the people.

Status: offline 		This is where the rubber meets the road. People need to stop putting so much emphasis on who wins the big national election, and start caring more about who wins the congressional races.
 
Bottom line:
 
A person like Ron Paul will never win the Presidency, the way things are structured now. Ross Perot spent billions and his only impact was deciding which person from one of the two major parties got elected.
 
Placing this much emphasis on one single race, will do nothing. No offense to anyone, but insisting that Ron Paul in the White House, is out best hope, means we have no hope ... because he isn't going to win, period.
 
Even if he did win, having him in the White House, with the current crop in Congress, will lead to four years of nothing politics. This will end up making that whole "Ron Paul Thing" look like nothing but a national disaster.
 
If you want to feel patriotic, and take back our nation, go find the "Ron Paul" on your Congressional ballet, and help him/her get elected. This is a race you can actually win, and if enough of them are won, we can have real change. If enough of them are won, perhaps we can have a "Ron Paul" President some day, that will not be a lame duck the moment he takes the oath of office.

Status: offline 		How says we have not? Who says that I do not keep track of my rep's voting record? Who is to say I don't keep track of the Senators voting records?

I agree with the congressional level comment, and have been doing so for about 4 years. The problem I see is that the way Washington is, many of them get swayed to the "Dark side". Yes this tells alot about them if they are swayed, but the whole process needs to be redone.

Ahhemmmm.....

Not to interupt...but, let's deal with facts here folks.

Ross Perot did not spend "billions"...he spent exactly 2 million dollars of his own money (and for the curious...he had exactly $5,744,812.00 in total campaign funds available to him through contributions...combined with his own funding, which as stated above....was 2 million dollars).

And yet, as these threads show, people will go to any extremes of illogic to find a reason to not vote for someone who doesn't represent the same old, same old.

"He's too old..I'm voting for the guy with the goood haircut".

"He's too young, I'm voting for the one related to the last one".

"She's the wrong race/color/religion/party/whatever, I'm voting on the issues...and the guy with the goood haicut".

"I like his ideas, but they say he's against free air, so I'm voting for the guy with the goood haircut".

"I like his ideas, but they say he doesn't stand a chance, and I don't want to waste my vote like on that Truman loser, so I'm voting for the one with the good haircut".

"Any body who doesn't support the goood haircut must be one of them...".

He has a chance if all his supporters get off their asses, donate to his campain, Do self campaining (handing out fliers signs ext.) and vote in the primaries. I think everyone is underextimating his support. His supporters are not only vast in number and from various parties, but they are the most passionate. You surely don't see Hillary or Mitt Supporters taking to the streets. I've passed out 500 Ron Paul Fliers in the past week!!

Status: offline 		While I'm among those who find RP to be a very loose wingnut, I did hear his appearance on NPR's Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me...

(BTW, that's a radio show that he and his supporters would immediately de-fund, for our own good, of course...)

Anyway, he's still a wingnut, albeit ever so slightly charming.

I was going to make the same RuPaul joke. And I'd probably vote for RuPaul over Ron Paul, but that's just me.

I think he is way past a wingnut. I think he is the worst sort of demagogue. He spouts a lot of bull but every so often some truth gets out and he is just your average far right wacko.

Status: offline 		Good question Deep. I was considering putting a dominos type sign for ROn Paul (yes they have them) on top of my car; it costs $90 and I don;t mind if it looks wierd.
Hope you have at least a bumper sticker (if you have a car).
And yes casie I put in some cash yesterday.
