cyberdude611 -> Edwards wants to force you to see a doctor (9/2/2007 5:49:27 PM)

Just the kind of junk you can expect from a socialized healthcare system that the Democrats want and are pushing hard for in this election....

John Edwards now says that a new system he is proposing should FORCE people to see a doctor as a form of preventive care.

Now I agree that it is best to see a doctor often for check-ups. However I do not agree with this idea that the government should force you to go.

What is it that liberals have such a problem trying to understand individual freedom? If someone wants to smoke. If someone wants to eat junk food. If someone refuses to go to a hospital....IT IS THEIR DECISION! It is their life and they should be able to choose how they wnat to live it. Why is this concept so difficult for liberals to understand? I know that having that hot fudge sundae after dinner is not good for my diet. But it should be MY choice whether to eat it or not. I dont need the god damn government to come in and tell me I can't.

Liberals claim they are in favor of freedoms.... I sure as hell dont see much of it in their socialist policies.

So, if a person must go to the doctor, do they have to accept that doctor's recommendation?

And,!! if you`re sick,he`s going to "FORCE"you to get well.
Oh GOD, help us from this horrible monster!!!!!

With your logic, you must think that bush`s record on health care ,is wonderful !(45 million w/ out healthcare insurance, and growing)<snickers>

Aug. 29 (Bloomberg) -- The number of Americans without health insurance probably rose to a record in 2005 as medical costs increased three times as fast as wages, according to forecasts for a Census Bureau report today.
The total has climbed every year since President George W. Bush took office, a point Democrats are likely to seize on in this year's congressional election. In February Bush called the 45.8 million who didn't have insurance in 2004 ``unacceptable in our country.'' Emory University Professor Ken Thorpe in Atlanta says Bush has done little to help these people.

Giving everyone access to health insurance is a different debate than forcing people to go to a doctor.

mnottertail -> RE: Edwards wants to force you to see a doctor (9/2/2007 7:20:18 PM)

with all the toilet neo-cons out there i think alotta people need to go to the doctor to preserve and defend the health and rights of true conservatives.

It is not the governments responsiblty or right to tell you what to do with YOUR body. Thats not their job. Man, how many liberties are people willing to give up

Evidently quite a few; at least they'll have plenty of practice when it comes time for the prostate exams.....

farglebargle -> RE: Edwards wants to force you to see a doctor (9/2/2007 7:36:08 PM)

Even if it's crackpottery ( I can't see a way to actually penalize someone who doesn't go for an annual physical, myself... ), it does keep the discussion on healthcare, and the government's appropriate role in it's delivery.

And it's a better offer than I've heard from anyone else!

John Edwards is one person. Isn't it somewhat problematic to discuss all liberals, based on what one candidate wants to do?

My suggestion would be ... don't vote for him. [;)]

But of course...the Doctor is gonna be amazingly good looking and talented and take me home to live in his house and wait on me hand and foot and make sure his recommendations are supplied to me in a pleasing, to me, manner too

Details? Link?

luckydog1 -> RE: Edwards wants to force you to see a doctor (9/2/2007 8:24:08 PM)

DC Novice, he gave the link in the OP.

Personally I think this is great.  100% DNA databse (controlled by the government) as well as mandatory drug and STD tests.  This will be a fantastic way to catch illegal immigrants, as well as breaking cycles of abuse.

So he did. I overlooked it. Now if I'd been forced to have that eye exam I've been putting off . . .

Looks like Edwards isn't the only one, either!!!

Level -> RE: Edwards wants to force you to see a doctor (9/2/2007 8:35:21 PM)

lol DC.

In breaking news, other candidates have unveiled programs, such as Rep. Duncan Hunter's initiative that would force all Americans to stop saying "who is he?"......
