The only thing I can think of, is the South Beach Ranch Dressing. It isn't..... bad.... but compared to others, like Ken's, and I tossed out almost a whole bottle.

KatyLied: I just buy stuff I like, or that looks appealing. I manage to eat healthy food, I exercise, I take vitamins - and there are lots of healthy foods I love - Salmon, tuna, milk, nuts, eggs, and most green veggies - like Asparagus and even Broccoli. I am a Spinach nut - I love Spinach - I will eat absolutely anything that has the word "Florentine" attached to it (meaning it has Spinach in it as a main ingredient). And I adore the taste of most Seafood (except Calamari, which I believe tastes like rubber).

But I also really love: Pecan Sandies cookies, Butter-brickle ice cream, and I love Pringles chips. I love greasy burgers and fries, too. I don't buy soda pop - I drink lots of Iced tea, w/ Sweet N' Low, instead - I guess I just never got in the habit of buying pop. But I like my fair share of "junk food", too.

Level: Thanks for the relpy. While we're on the topic - I will warn you away (for your own good) - from most cheeses that are labelled "Fat Free" - the ones I have tried taste like pieces of orange plastic.

Maybe you know this already (if so, maybe you like them, I dunno) I think they have No flavor whatsoever. I am sure they probably are "good for you" - but, IMO, you have to be able to eat them first.

"Fat-free" sends me running the other direction.  I eat full-fat foods, natural foods, they're good for you.

YAY for Real food. Down with "Fat free"!! I agree that some f the "health food" out there might make you live longer - but it also might make you wonder how long you want to go on living that way, while you're doing it, hehe.

The fat free stuff, from what I've had tastes yuck and just doesn't do it for me.  As far as pop, my only downfall is Pepsi.  I've always loved it and still buy it from time to time, mainly for the sugar/caffeine pick-me-up, never diet though, another thing I dislike is diet pop (or soda, or whatever you call it).

Level: Thanks for the tip.

KatyLied: I like Pepsi much better than Coke (I think it might be the sugar content - but  don't care, I just think it tastes better).

I don't think I will be getting Osteoporosis. I think I've probably managed to down enough milk to have started my own dairy. I love milk, and ice cream, and cheese. When I was growing up, my mother was always yelling at me for drinking all he milk in the fridge. I still drink a lot of it today (1 or 2% - I just can't handle the Skim stuff).

adoracat: OMG - hot pickled sausages just sound awful. I can't imagine eating that - I can visualize it, though - and it ain't pretty. That sounds worse than Pickled Herring. What is it with men and Pickled Herring? My father loves Pickled Herring, and my husband loved it as well. (Gosh, maybe there are some foods I don't love - but really there aren't that many, only a few).

I am trying to think if there is something packaged I have tried and gotten queasy. I'm sure there is, just cannot think of it. The reality is that I was raised in a rather weird house. Rarely any premade type foods. We even made our own cold cereal (granola). Always had a big garden and did alot of canning and freezing.

Because I was used that type of food and love to cook.... I have never bought alot of pre-packed/pre-made stuff. I live with someone that grew up totally different. He buys gross stuff like canned tamales, omg cannot even stand the smell of those things. No way would I eat them! I think someone talked me into tasting canned ravioli or spagetti-o's once. It tasted about like it smells, AWFUL! I have yet to figure out why anyone would eat anything so gross when making it from scratch is so easy.

I will eat some of the frozen pizzas on occasion. Amy's makes some good stuff.

So yeah, I guess the Spagetti-os were the grossest I can remember.

Thanks for the reply, LaTigresse. I like to cook also (although I have not tried canning. It sounds kinda fun, though, as well as useful). I love (LOVE) Granola.

It doesn't hurt to have a bone density check though.  I have osteopenia and this was discovered by the heel bone test at a fair (of all places).  I was surprised because I exercise, have a normal height/weight ratio.  But there is osteoporosis in my family along with other risk factors, such as being excessively skinny as a teen.

KatyLied: I will have a bone density check (can they test for this at an annual physical, do you know? I do have those). Is Osteopenia different than Osteoporosis (just wondering). I have never (ever) been "skinny". I've never been fat either (maybe 10 pounds over at the most, but not right now). Is that a risk factor? Just curious (if you know).

I can eat almost anything (except Curry, the spice. I can't eat much Middle-Eastern food either, for that reason - there seems to be a lot of curry in much of it.

The active ingredient in curry is the spice coriander.  It was used in temperate to hot climates in order to disguise the taste of meat that is going bad.  Additionally, by adding extra peppers it was possible to both completely knock out the flavor of bad meat, but also to destroy one's taste buds forcing one to always go for ever hotter foods in order to taste anything at all.

I am experimenting with figuring out a good curry mixture.  I love hot foods, but I seldom allow myself to eat them as I also love very subtle tastes.

Sinergy: That is a very interesting bit of information re: Curry. (It really is) I didn't realize that. Thanks for the information.

My nephew also LOVES hot and spicy. Whenever I travel, I am always on the look-out to bring him back the hottest of Hot sauces, from wherever. I wonder if this is a "guy thing" (but maybe not)...good luck finding your special Curry mixture.

i really don't think the "active ingredient" post about curry is accurate. many curries have ground corriander and many have leaf corriander - totally different taste - and many don't have either. loads of curries have no meat at all and do have corriander.
plenty aren't spicey either.

I dunno, I don't use much Coriander or Curry (I do a fair amount of cooking, just not with those spices).

I have to run, but will check back on this thread later. I do appreciate all the replies.

Susan - it was explained to me as pre-osteoporosis, the beginning of losing bone density.
