ORIGINAL: teenyweeny i really don't think the "active ingredient" post about curry is accurate. many curries have ground corriander and many have leaf corriander - totally different taste - and many don't have either. loads of curries have no meat at all and do have corriander. plenty aren't spicey either. You might be right, however... Have you ever found a curry that did not have coriander in it? The english name curry comes from the Urdu (IIRC) word for coriander, which sounds something like kari. Curry powder is a mixture of a bunch of spices but the base spice is coriander. I am not really looking for a curry mix, I am trying to mix up a curry which has the flavors I want in it. Garlic, coconut, peppers, peanut, sesame, coriander, etc. Sinergy
