Survival is stopping them killing you: locking them in jail is survival.

If they dont want to be sent someplace they may be killed then its simple, dont come here and carry out acts of terror. To do otherwise is to have double standards.

It's not about what they want but about what we want; it's not about their standards but about ours.  To kill somebody because it was wrong for them to kill, try to kill or want to kill is to have double standards.

i still see no double standards in self defence. What i see as wrong is someone coming here with the intent to kill, then pleading not to be sent elsewhere as they may lose their life.

LMAO

SAY THIS TWICE SAY THIS TWICE:

  ORIGINAL: Aneirin
I was thinking earlier about the weird creatures, the things that hunt in the dark and the sea not being safe to swim in.

You mean predators like lions and sharks, and that single celled alga that infects the smell nerve from the nose and that travels along the nerve to the brain and eats the brain from the inside out? And then there are cars. I have twice been hit by a car. There are no cars on Gor. I prefer Gor: it is a lot safer.

Them is real.
was taught that
The kur represent the greedy/dualing nature of mankind and what mankind could be/is capable of becoming . ie look at our replenishable and non replenishable resources and how they are used....

I'd have to say that Wittgenstein's writings are a lot more fundamental, although the direct impact on our lives is very rarely realized, and will not become apparent to most for about a century or so, I imagine, depending on how soon the AI folks turn their approach inside out. Not only are words once removed from semantics, but semantics are twice removed from reality, if not more. Bearing that in mind is very useful at times.

DID I SAY IT ENOUGH YET, SAKINAH?  Was i ABLE to do so in a PLEASING MANNER?  Was I VIRTUOUS?  What are MY VICES?  How well do I KNOW MYSELF?  not too well, if I have to ask so much, eh?  Was the KIND LADY GRACE WATCHING?  May I remove my ASS from the PLATTER now or is that REALLY UP TO ME?

YAY! FUN! HAPPY!

*suddenly ready for bed now that she isn't so stressed out...... now that she took a minute to relax and just breath*

I R DUPID say this twice say this twisey.  *SHRUGGUMS*  Or don't.  THAT is UP to YOU(and me?)

AM I SERVING A PURPOSE?
ARE YOU?
YES!

"everything is as it should be"
"how much is that doggy in the window?  the one with the waggly tail?"

How much more do I have to bark and beg LIKE A CHIHUAHUA before you guys LET ME OFF THE HOOK.  I guess it's up to me.  *shrugz and SECRETLY loves every minute of it*

*waves a FREINDLY PAW*

Judicial execution isn't killing in self-defence: it's killing in retribution.  If you continue beyond the point where the threat is neutralised (the guy's been in jail for the last twenty years, appealing against his sentence!), you're no longer defending yourself but committing an act of aggression.

I don't care what the terrorist wants.  This is about us, not the terrorists.  I do not want anybody's blood on my hands: not even a terrorist's.

Beeble although i am not a great lover of the death penalty, i think there are times when it may be justified.

Just a caution for people who say it may be more of a deterent if people could see it taking place. In England they used to do exactly that, prisoners were executed at Tyburn gallows which for anyone who knows London, is where Marble Arch now stands. Far from being off puting it was seen as a great day out with people flocking to witness the show, so to speak. It was more like carnival time  and i doubt it detered many.

As you've probably guessed, I disagree on the last point.  But thanks for engaging in a sane non-rabid discussion on the topic.
