Are there any more on here? I am Pentecostal (probably the only one to ever be here) and was just wondering if there are any other Jesus-only Christians here.

I really hope my question doesn't cause this to degenerate into something icky but.... um, I don't understand. What is a Jesus-only Christian? Pentacostal I understand (sorta kinda) but I've never heard the phrase Jesus-only. I don't ask this to mock you, simply just because I want to know. Folks I do ask that you not use this thread in any nasty manner please please?

I'm also Pentecostal- AoG.   However the position papers do state belief in the trinity.  I haven't really explored the oneness doctrine but my understanding was that they do not believe in the triune nature of God.

I'm fairly new to being Pentecostal with a background of being Methodist and Disciples of Christ/Christian.   Please let me know if my understanding is wrong.

Hello shara

Pentecostal  and the belief in Oneness Pentecostal are slightly different.  Its an amalgamation of basic hands on theology (speaking in tongues etc) and rejection of what they percieve to be more modern approachs (like ordained women being a nono)

I would group them along with JWs or Christian Scientists - whereas Pentecostal, Methodists, Baptists etc are in a different section (hopefully that will make sense).
They alone believe they will go to heaven and that you have to be baptised (so there is a self realisation thing going on there).

They deny the Trinity doctrine - but in essence it's really a pedantic thought because they believe that saying you believe in the trinity leaves one open to being accused of believing in three gods, which of course, is not what the Trinity represents, and really they view Jesus as God and HS, rather than seperating it into the Father, Son and HS.  But they do say that Jesus has two 'sides' or 'natures'.

Hope that helped?

as a member of the Black Southern Baptist affliliation, we believe that if you confess your sins as a sinner, believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord  (not God ...and i'll get to that in one minute) who died on the cross to take away the sins of the world and rose again on the 3rd day from the tomb, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior - then you shall be saved with your name written in the Book of Life in Heaven. you have to be baptized into the faith in order to accept communion (most churches have this stipulation and are quite strict about it).  other churches recite the Apostles creed and etc however these the basics which is strictly followed in most and/or Baptist churches.

now the JW believe only a hand picked group of 144,00 are going to Heaven ...so where does the leave the other millions who didn't make it? plus they believe Heaven will be here on earth.  actually the 144,000 only refers to the 12 tribes of Isreal during the tribulation who convert during this time.

Baptists believe in the Trinity: God, Jesus and Holy Spirit and break it down this way.  God sent His only beloved Son to this world to take away its sins so we could be saved (paraphased version of John 3:16). the Holy Spirit resides in and every Christian once they have accept Jesus into their heart. we don't view Jesus as God.  there's only 1 God - and that's God.

I will try to answer all of your questions. Jesus only is the belief that the trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) are not correct, that they are all the same, JESUS. To me Jesus is all of the them. I am correctly known as an Apostolic, a type of Pentecostal. Aslo, we believe you must do a lot more to make it to heaven. You must be baptized in the water, FULL WATER BAPTISM, in the name of Jesus, not the trinity. You must recieve the gift of the Holy spirit (I have spoken in tongues, been slain, and drunk in the Holy Ghost). You must accept Jesus as Lord. The 144,000 is correct for the RAPTURE. 12 thousand of the 12 tribes will make it in the rapture. That is not the number going to heaven as the Jehova Witnesses believe. Hope I clarified some of my beliefs.

In Christ,
Dave

we sing this song during communion before drinking the grape juice signifying Jesus' blood shed for the sins of the world.

bryhtwulf, I left my congregation because it was not giving me the spiritual nuturing I needed, plus the congregation I attended was very spiritually abusive. So around 18, I decided to part ways from my congregation. I did not part ways with God however.

I am currently seeking a congregation that is safe and sane. I noticed that alot of  Christian churches have a lot of cult tendencies. So, I am cautious but looking.

Wow! We sing it frequently. during our 3 times a year communion (the times it says to do so in the Bible) we usually sing "Let it rain". Both fantastic songs.

I am so sorry to hear that. We need to love our brothers ans siters. not abuse and judge them. Do you still wear skirts/dresses and keep your hair long? I am either clean shaven or have a beard with short hair.

Oddly enough my very favorite is an oldie,  Amazing Grace.   I like the newer stuff too which tends to be what is sung in my church.

Now this is interesting. I was raised Assembly of God. My sub was raised Baptist. We are now attending a Methodist church and have chosen Methodisim as our denomination of practice to christianity. Either way, we both value the Trinity as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I never heard of the phrase "Jesus-only Christian" myself. After all, the whole concept of being a Christian is the belief that Jesus is the son of God, came to earth as a man, died for our sins, arose from the dead, and will come again.

Sure, we have different denomination in Christianity. However, I never heard of another type of christain who didn't follow the teachings of Jesus. So other than "Jesus Only" what other types of Christians are out there?

Then again, I do remember that people in India have a nack for practicing many religions at once. When you tell them about God and Jesus, many just add Jesus to the list of there other religions. Also, being that Buddisim is considered to be a philosiphy and not a religion, I have heard of there being "Christian Buddist." Does this have anything to do with being a Jesus-Only Christian?

1. Full water baptisim. Check

2. In the Name of Jesus. Check and also in the name of the Trinity.

3. Recieve from the Holy Spirit. Check. Slain and Speak in Tounges. Check

4. Jesus is Lord. Check. Lord of lords and King of kings.

5. Being one of the 12,000 of the twelve tribes? Searching.

My family tree does not go back that far. I can't find any Hebrew blood in me. I must come from one of the "Other People" that God spoke of when he cursed Caine. Maybe I'm a decendet of Lilith from her wild escapades and affairs with demons.

Considering that none of the twelve tribes exist anymore, I guess that it's a matter of fate and long blood lines that may make you one of the 144,000. So I can't put a check on that one.

I just believe in GOD, no "middlemen."

Funny how some Baptists mistakenly call themselves "Protestant."
The Baptist movement existed *before* the Catholic Church and was never a part of it.
The branches that left the Catholic Church, Lutherin, Anglican, (Methodist from Anglican) Presbyterian, Calvinists and Episcopalians were the ones who formed, "The Protestant Reformation."
They "Protestith the Catholic Church."
That's where the word "Protestant" comes from, "to protest."
