Islam is a religion spread by the sword and disputed ever since the death of Mohamed. Mohamed was a sexist person that had a peculiar attitude tward women and that as well as his other feelings filtered into the religion.

There will be a holy war, perpitrated by the Islamic extremists and the ill prepared will suffer.

It is the extremist, not the moderate Muslims that are the main problem, the moderate muslims that do not condemn the acts of the ectremists are the second most dangerous.

There is disparity between men and women in many religions, it is just most prevelant in Islam.

I tend to disagree with it being most prevalent in Islam.  This sort of ideology about how horrible Islam is towards women, children, etc., seems to be endemic to the Other White Religion, i.e. Christianity, in order to generate fear and hatred towards the other major religion that formed in the cradel of civilization.

Another way of saying this is to point out that many Muslims say the same thing about Christianity's treatment of women.

p.s.  in the Third Chimpanzee, Jared Diamond points out that it is a common simian behavior to form into groups and then assault, prey, etc., on the members of other groups.  I would imagine that one of the reasons for the growth of creationist theory is to allow people to pretend that humans do not continually act like a bunch of aggressive monkeys.

I've TRIED, but his crazy religious fundamentalist followers have stacked the DOJ with religious nuts, guaranteed to put their Party Loyalty ahead of their Duty under The Law, rendering the Constitutional checks and balances impotent.

No body is perfect.

Yes, there are bad Muslims. And there are good ones. Like the rest of humans. We (Muslims) are living our dark ages now. I'm speechless regarding that poor victim. [sm=river.gif]

I don't know why you'd characterize certified religious fundamentalists as "Subhuman", but I wouldn't.

In 1948? Arabs had Armor (tanks), aircraft, artillery, Egypt had a small navy, professionaly trained militaries, ect. What did Israel have? A small corp of tanks, virtually no artillery, a citizen militia for the lack of a better term, and small-arms that barely worked (Czech mauser for one of them). And Arabs today have Modern technology. if they cared so much for the palestinians, they would do something and gang up on israel and, oh wait, tried that. Didn't work. Point is the Jews have decimated the Arab armies in multiple wars, even when brutally assaulted in the Yom kippur war (1973).

I do hope these women get sick and tired of being treated worse than animals and band together against these tyrannical crazed  bastards. Enough is enough women are NOT animals we are human beings deserving the same equal rights and treatment as men I don't care what anyone says.

My thought is..when are the MEN going to find their BALLS and join the 21st century and treat women as human. (notice I didn't say equal... one step at a time) What do they fear so much about us that they treat us this way?

"Octopodes," more correctly, not "octopi"--the word is Greek, not Latin.  And they're not nearly as likely as cockroaches to survive...

Anyway, arencha going just a little too far with this?  I'd love to see an example of human parthenogenesis.  I'd win the Nobel Prize!  And do you really think women of the rank and file in places like Africa and Asia are going to be able to afford artificial insemination?  It's never going to be an inexpensive procedure.

I hold out hope for a peaceful world in which men and women live together and manage the earth's resources responsibly; but maybe that's an irrational hope.

This point above could be distilled to say that among primates, including humans there is a behavior designed to generate brutal US AGAINST THEM conflicts.  The history of religions and religious ideas could be read very reasonably as a history of creating ideologies that allow groups formerly opposed to one another to join together against a new common enemy.  It is for this reason that any claims that religion makes people act more justly and morally can't refer to how members treat each other. 

Look to how a religion treats or weeps for injury to those it considers damned and you see its moral compass.

It's their "culture."

I think the average woman in the Islamic world is treated far worse than the average woman in the Christian one.

The Saudis have hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars invested in the west. And the Saudis are also protecting the US dollar. So the US can't say anything about this case....

Popeye i am not suprised by this but i am disgusted. Hopefully one day people, of whatever sex, religion, sexuality or class, will all be treated equal.
