Status: offline 		In my opinion, they are respectful in their actions. They are reasonable. They are patient when teaching. They will admit they make mistakes and are not perfect. They do NOT have a God complex. And their's is not the one true way. They don't insist on hiding in the shadows and keeping your involvement secret.

And much more that I am sure will be added from others with more experience dealing with them.

Status: offline 		Not everyone is or wants to be a master.  But conventional steroetypes in places like this seem to insist on some sort of uniform "code" that a guy has to follow to make him one.

It's often our own prejudices and suppostions that set us up for failure. Happiness is not going to be guaranteed by some fantasy construct being met. Strangely-it seems to be more about having a need met.

Rather than having all of the checks on a shopping list filled in.

Status: offline 		A thick skin, hip waders, a large shovel (sometimes a  backhoe), Webster's dictionary on text-speak, a delete/block button, Job's patience and psychic ability....all should be in the repertoire of a "sub looking for Dom" in my opinion.  Use the wannabes and fakers to make your list of what you don't want (see? they have a purpose).  Set your criteria, wade through, laugh a lot, and be ready for the unexpected.  Not all the pretty stones on the beach are just cut glass, just most of them.  Wait for your diamond.

Status: offline 		If you seem to be a punching bag, chyanna, perhaps the tweaking needs to be done in your selection processes. You can't spot a 'real' Dom as easily as you can spot a blue car. You take your time getting to know this person, assess this person for compatibility over a period of time, and figure out if he makes you want to know him better. This process is absolutely no different than a vanilla one. You are not unsublike for having common sense (see the barbed wire thread) or having preferences and hard limits.

When they start a sentence or a begin a discussion with a resume bullet point, you can be assured that if they aren't a 'wannabe' they lack confidence in who/what they are. I spent the entire Cannes Film Festival with George and Brad searching for a REAL submissive, Sadly there were none in all of France. chyanna, I read your profile and from what I can tell, you have had some bad experiences with people online. You cannot tell about anyone from just online. You have let a bunch of pixels on a screen upset you.

When I read what some guys wrote you, I snorted. Where is your self-esteem girl!! Who cares if you are a BBW, hell, so am I and I know I am the bomb and so are you.

Never let anyone take your self respect away from you and certainly never let anyone who calls themselves Dominant make you feel that way simply because you identify as submissive. There are many, many people who use the labels of D/s to mask their own insecurities and they are the ones who lash out at newbies like yourself with this nonsense.

P.S. why ask the Masters how to determine a wannabe Master. Ask the subs.
