Fine.  Go ahead and name me another country more people are immigrating to.  They sure as hell aren't flocking to Pakistan either.

I don't know much about Bhutto, and I know there are mixed views about how effective a prime minister she was.

But it does seem as if she represented hope for many Pakistanis, and I grieve her passing.

May she rest in peace.

A very tragic day for Pakistan.  I am not shocked at all; however, disappointed.
I don't understand why she went back to Pakistan to begin with, but they got her.

Did they use another baby bomb? Got to love those Islamic Fascist, they really know how to make serial killers seem sane.

I wont even speculare on the number of power brokers that were happy about that outcome.

Sad, sad, day indeed.

I always knew her life was in danger, since the 1980's.
I am actually amazed that she was able to survive this long, but she
continued to want to be around her people.

May she R.I.P.

I was thinking the same thing, MissSCD.
She loved her people, and wanted to be around them.
She was a real heroine.

Its truly is a sad day indeed and quite unfortunate that Bhutto like her father has become yet another martyr. As if this horrible news was not shocking enough worldwide, I found our presidential candidates remarks to be untimely and frankly deplorable. Wondering what any of your sentiments are on the fact that our candidates spoke so quickly as to persuade voters. Please note that none of this shocks me, but you would think that their think tanks would have handled the situation at this time differently .

Best regards,

sissy

So America was civilized before the civil rights movement/ counter culture(1950s)?  Just seems like a bizzare reading of history...

Yes I know, America sucks.  That's the answer of all leftists any time someone criticizes the Muslim world.  That's fine, I understand that.  If it sucks so bad here, than leave.  Go live in these more civilized countries that exist all over the world.  As bad as it is here in the States, you'd think more people would be leaving.  But they're not.  In fact there are millions waiting in line and millions sneaking in.

When Kennedy was assassinated world America not ready to join the civilized war?  What about when Hinckley shot Reagan.  Oh and the guy that had the bombs at Clinton's office in New Hampshire....

Dude, what's the difference?  An entire country didn't assassinate Bhutto!

Actually an entire culture assassinated her.  She was a woman, and how dare a woman think she can rule a country?  That's the majority opinion in the Muslim world.  Lee Harvey Oswald (yeah he killed Kennedy), Hinkley, and that nut in New Hampshire were all loony tunes.  They didn't and don't represent the overall culture and opinion of the United States.  The fuckers that carry out bombings and murder in Muslim countries do.

Greetings..~smiles~

Just a reply.....

Understands there would be mass confusion after something like this but it seems really odd now that the doctors have spoken up. Most of the eye witness accounts best to their recall was that they heard shots, she went back down into the vehicle, and the vehicle was moving away as the actual bomb blast went off..but yet the doctors now state that no bullet was found, and she died of shrapnel to the head. Hows that pan out?

Well Wishes

One of her bodyguards did the coup-d-grace. The suicide bomber was there for plausible deniability.

Terrible but just a matter of time.

Who gains? Who potentially gains?

For Musharraf I believe her death brings only trouble which he can do without. I see rather a scenario involving a few players, each of whom has to gain from the situation in general and her removal in particular.

Elements in the Pakistan military for a start; it doesnt make for willing allies, when one threatens to bomb people into the stone age if they dont help out in a war against those for whom they feel greater affinity than you. I would suggest rather, that such threats put people's backs up and combined with traditional loyalties, they might in fact choose to do contrariwise behind your back. But not openly of course, but via the anonymous members of those against whom one is meant to be fighting. In the confusion, one could get hold of power too and move the country in the direction one might prefer.

The terrorists meanwhile hope to secure power for themselves too of course, and to move the country in the direction they prefer - which may or may not be the same direction as the military would like. But at the least they score a hit against western ideals and against the idea of women holding any power.

And then, I also see the hand of Iran in all this. An unstable neighbour with the weapons they'd like to have is not an opportunity to be missed. What if they played a double game here? Supporting the terrorists and the Pakistan military, without either knowing that the other was getting such aid? Whoever comes out on top in the eventual conflict between the military and the terrorists, they would be friends of Iran - though I suspect Iran would prefer the military to win out as more controllable agents of their intentions. Indeed, what if Iran became the saviour of Pakistan by way of involvement at the last moment before it rolled into the abyss? World wide kudos for Iran, loyal allies for them in Pakistan, and access to all the nuclear know how they might need. And humiliation for the west in that we couldnt do anything to stop it whilst Iran could.

Makes sense. In any case I also expected shooting and bomb to have two different perpetrators. (But I was not there, so I do not know the first thing about it.)
