I think "twue" is meant as irony but on public boards people tend to take exception when others post about what they consider a true dominant or true sub.

I meant every single thing I said and thats my take on what makes someone a dominant person.  Obviously not everyone holds the same opinions I do.

To me a "twue" dominant gives as much or more than they get. They know how to get someone to want to serve them and to get a sense of accomplishment and joy from it. A "twue" dominant ends up making the sub more rather than less.

I totally agree. At least in my experience, my dom leads and I follow, learning all the way. It's a very wonderful thing... Dreamer

Quick, let's throw around wild generalities and over-react to a false dilemma!

Go!

On a more serious note, almost any sort of generalization about human behavior is bound to fail (often spectacularly) in specific cases; links like the one above make my blood pressure rise high enough that I'm worried my head will blow off my shoulders and embed itself in the ceiling.  There are many reasons why people behave as they do, and why certain over-arching social trends may exist, but attempting to put any large group of people into a neat box is doomed to failure unless the statement is so painfully broad as to be obvious.

More to the point, I get the sense that the author of that post is either intentionally or passive-aggressively attempting to promote conflict and stir the pot, as it were, rather than progress towards any truly meaningful understanding of the human condition.  Whoever posted above that the name of the link was quite appropriate, I concur.

Likewise, I would suggest that the OP's suggestion about comparing misogynists and Doms is misguided; some misogynists will be Doms, and some Doms will be misogynists, but that is common sense.  To suggest that they are somehow comparable or mutually exclusive groups is like my suggesting we should compare racists with dentists...

Edit - this is not to say that comparison errors are uncommon; people make them extremely frequently, myself included, because there is a natural human tendency towards all kinds of wonderful cognitive biases that distort our thinking on a regular basis.

I assume a person can behave as someone else thinks a misoginist behaves without actually being one. Labels for people never really work.

I agree highly with you labels do not work. Plus I hate when people try to label others I think it is very disrespectful.

a misogynist is no real dom...

I couldn't agree more. It seems that "weal" domlitude goes hand in hand with crass misoginy - perhaps it's too easy for some to make the leap from one to the other. After all, how can a Dom do a good job if he doesn't love women?

You speak as if all Doms only dominate women.  What about men that dominate men?  Are they not real Doms also?

Because misogyny means "hatred of women", nothing else. Oh, and I never used "real Dom' - I said "weal", which is entirely different  .

See, if you would have used "twue", there would have been no confusion. Good thing I'm around to help you out..... I nominate myself to be your sponsor here in America.

Interesting list.  A few of the behaviors are very familiar.  Especially number 11.

I've noticed a definite misogynystic wind blowing through collarme these days... there's a small handfull of misfit Doms with an agenda who creep around the boards... I don't believe they are all part of the same fraternity, but they're effective when it comes to buggering up a thread; you know, the old male solidarity, us against the chicks, thump thump thump on the chest sort of thing... There's been a few of them running into delicate subjects like hippopothamus in a china shop.

I believe their goal is sabotage: the thread on "men who clean get more sex" really fucked them off, and they were terribly excited by the one about international women's day... Hmmm ...I find the link to "spot the mis or dom" really a propos. These men in question proudly declare their misogyny, whilst trumpetting their domitude... I'm grateful for this link, and I shall keep it with me at all times.

Cheers!

Yes, mysoginists and those who call themselves doms, I do see the connection, and agree, there are many who hide beneath the kinky label.

Wow, so someone can belittle someone, that is not a measure of Domliness, rather a measure of their ineffectiveness at living within a social enviroment. The reality, a mysoginist is a scared creature, so scared that they have to retort to these ways to hide their insecurity.

Being a Dom, is not about belittling people, insecure people do that to boost their inadequate ego and there will only be one person who recognises a person as Dominant, that is the submissive who sees  that dominance in the one they love.
