Yeah, it was a good general wake-up call of the behavior you can expect from certain people.  I took particular notice of the "refuse to be ignored" tactic, and the insistence on dictating the terms of any discussion.  That and "claim to be a feminist and dictate the terms of proper feminism"--another tactic worth noting.  Boy, has that one gotten common these days!

Now now, don't confuse us chest thumping Doms with misogynists.  I thump my chest as a means of scaring off the pansy weakling men who aren't really dominant, aggressive, or strong enough to merit tearing their throat or testicals out.  It makes protecting my wimmens much easier.

It's scary, really, how many of these tactics my brother uses. I love the guy, but godsdamn...He is messed up when it comes to women. Which is weird, because his fiance is one of the strongest, most confident, most dominant young women I've ever met. I think it stems more from a general disdain for everything that walks on two legs then a hatred specifically for women.

There have always been those who hate entire groups of people based on a single shared trait (skin color, religion, sexual orientation, gender etc.) Such ignorance can only be combated by educating our young and leading by example. That said, you can be a racist, a sexist, a misogynist et al and still be a competent dominant. None of those things are mutually exclusive as much as it pains me to admit it.

I have to disagree with you on that point, at least a portion of it.

I think if you're trying to fashion yorself as a male dom, being a mysogynist is a severe handicap to that. It may be that we are at odds on what constitutes competance for a dominant. I feel that if you can't respect/appreciate/love your submissive as a human being first, you're not going to be terribly capable of taking care of them or even avoiding hurting them serverely.

And how is it a handicap if you're gay?

My stance is that they are not mutually exclusive, if your stance is that they are, we'll have to agree to disagree because, as I just pointed out, there are exceptions which prove the point. Not all submissives are female, not all male dominants are straight.

I mean, if you can't hack it at the general stuff, how are the more specific aspects going to fare?

I think you're talking about morals here, which are subjective and probably fodder for another thread. No matter how poor I might be in expressions of my humanity, there is nothing I can do which will change the fact that I'm a human and being human doesn't require competence, just the right mix of DNA. For that matter, competence is also subjective especially as it relates to personal relationships between people. What works for one may or may not work for another.

Status: offline 		ive certainly met a few, but they were vanillas.  read the list and i dont think ive met a Dom with those attitudes, even the toxics ive spoken to on the net werent that crass or out of touch with the basic qualities of Domliness.

There is at least one self proclaimed mysogynist on this site.  There were some extreme things he wanted to use a woman for (to which I said ewww-- literally) and he was disappointed that the only women that seemed interested in his antics were those that had mental imbalances and he wanted one that was mentally sound and didn't want to end her life.
