and here I was expecting a knock down drag out brawl. The sad thing is people who go out of obligation and social standing. Anyhow, I am done with this one unless someone says something truly outrageous.

Oh and I have never heard a priest tell anyone they were going to hell, and I grew up Irish Catholic as well and had an Irish priest...must have just been you popeye

Well gee Dominor you must not have been paying attention.
That Preist who swayed told me in confession when I was 8 years old that I was a "Heathen" and a "Pagan" and that I was going to hell!
I had to go home and look up those words in the dictionary to find out what they meant!
He was a nasty fuckin' drunk!
Where do you think he is now?

-fast reply-

Hmmmmm, is it possible to be both a saditic and masocistic person?

While I do like to torture the pretty little wench; I am a Gorean, I'm a Catholic and I'm a white skinned American male. Holy fuck am I ever a glutton for punishment.

Oh and DominorSomnium, don't take these guys all that serious, I'm sure they would make fun of their own mothers. It's only blasphemy when you make fun of God, not the Catholic Church.

I have the most complex time trying to understand the word coming from St. Peters Vasilica, I think they are simply creating busy work or attempting to justif their jobs when they devise some new stuff like listed here. The Catholic Church I believe in is the people that I share faith with right here in my home town. That's a Home Stone(Gorean) thing though, so I doubt that most would understand.

Viva Jesus,

Bull

See, that's where I found the Church truly adheres to its original aim of compassion and love for thy neighbour. Funny, isn't it.

What I want to know is what was wrong with the traditional ways of going to hell?  Was there a sudden outbreak of virtue that I missed?

Kittensol, but why do they only mention the U.S.?
How about Russia or China or dozens of other countries?
They don't seem to have any compunction about breaking the laws of our country.
Why is that I wonder?
Perhaps they should have their "tax exempt" status re-examined.

Pop, I know how you feel about immigrants; considering your own background, I find that ironic. My opinion is that the great majority of immigrants to any country tends to be very respectful of the law.

I like how some Catholic churches open up their doors to offer refuge to those that may need it: the very few that did during the second world war saved lives. I find it worthy of respect.

I don't know how many priests saved Jewish lives during the holocaust and were killed by the gestapo. And when the Irish came to America, the Church is all we had sometimes. But kitten, we have alot of illegal immigrants in my city and there is a semi gang war between them and the black gangs over drugs. so some definite bad apples thats for sure.

Thats me. :D
Even as a Catholic who disagrees with a lot of teachings, this thread is rather troublesome.

I think the religious types are known to have a few planes of their own. And I think I recall a specialized car somewhere....

Any religion that has its own CITY, should probably not preach about excessive wealth.

How many Irish immigrants had their paperwork in order after the potato famine? Each wave of immigrants in the US is regarded with suspicion... till they establish themselves, and after a couple of generations, everybody joins in unison to berrate the new immigrants. Catholics were always judged by the WASP elite, whether they were Irish or Italian. In turn, the Irish and Italian looked down upon Jewish immigrants... it's a never ending story.

I don't think illegal immigration is the greatest of this country's trouble. Who'll pick up Californian tomatoes for three bucks an hour, if it isn't them?

Does anyone even really LISTEN to catholics anymore? I thought we all kinda regarded them like the lil brother who has to wear the helmet when he rides the short bus to school.

LMAO!  As another lapsed catholic girl, I totally lost my "work face" on this one.

Compared to people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet the Church is not as wealthy. Thats what they meant. And I am pretty much certain here in the US you are not considered "wealthy" unless you have a private jet and a driver. Like I said, try learning.

I would submit to you that if you think this is true, it's clear you've never lived in a border or near-border town and watched your hospital closed down due to bankruptcy brought about by all the free services it was forced by law to give the illegals.

I'd say that's a fair bet. Though you'll need two uniforms as the first will likely be....damaged...when it's ripped off.

Oh, so let me get this right. Compared to some of the wealthiest people on the planet, the church isn't wealthy.

But compared to the rest of us, the church *IS* Bill Gates-esque.

Lke *I* said...any religion that has its own CITY, security force, etc, cannot be poor.
