quote:
ORIGINAL: kittinSol How many Irish immigrants had their paperwork in order after the potato famine? Each wave of immigrants in the US is regarded with suspicion... till they establish themselves, and after a couple of generations, everybody joins in unison to berrate the new immigrants. Catholics were always judged by the WASP elite, whether they were Irish or Italian. In turn, the Irish and Italian looked down upon Jewish immigrants... it's a never ending story. I don't think illegal immigration is the greatest of this country's trouble. Who'll pick up Californian tomatoes for three bucks an hour, if it isn't them? Kittensol, no-one has a problem with "Immigrants." They're invited here and they come legally. It's *illegal aliens* who are causing the problems and who the Catholic Church is advocating for. That is two different categories of people.
