Cars honking at horses on the road. Oh yeah, sure that horse is suddenly going to go 50mph. Give it a break, it's getting off the road in a second anyway as soon as they get to the trail.

And when I finally get the left turn arrow and some idiot on the other side thinks right on red means they have the right of way. Come on, the left arrow is only there for a minute as is.

People who don't know what they want and then complain because nobody matches their needs.

Anguisette1 -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 6:37:02 AM)

People who read the first 10 words of a post and go off on a tangent, ripping apart everything you said and still don't address your point.

Two words: spell check.

"Diversity training" - wtf?! Treat people how you want to be treated...parents teach that, not corporations.

Old farts in convertible beamers that side-swipe your brand new Mustang because they don't have two seconds to spare in their ever-so-much-more-important-than-yours life. -wry grin- no...I'm not bitter.

Redundant phrases!!  ATM (automated teller machine) Machine; PIN (Personal identification number) Number.

And, as others have stated, people who know it all, for all.

Unwarranted rudeness.

Things that piss me off:

In the lifestyle (or any relationship for that matter):  potential partners/friends who listen to my 3 main rules...courtesy & civility / patience and understanding / communication... agree ever so sincerely with them and then, when those rules are "inconvenient", disregard them.  Come on...these 3 rules are that hard to follow when things get tough?

People whose respect comes not from what they have learned about you as a person and what you have accomplished in your own world and with those close to you but mainly from what you have done outside those closest to you...e.g., the stars that garner respect because they are a great actor even though they are a shithead to their family and their friends (what few they have).  There are "stars" like this in our world too.

Outside the lifestyle:  Semi-drivers who seem to get a kick out of filling my rearview mirror with a close-up of their grill before they go around me even though I am doing 80.

Insurance adjusters who read to you from a script while telling you why they have denied your claim...and the script doesn't even follow the specifics of the claim you are dealing with.

People in 4 wheelers who tend to forget that the guy on the motorcycle is going just as fast as they are and if the 4 wheeler gets much closer, the motocycle guy is going to lose.

Boy asses on girls...o.k., I know it is not really something to be irked about but 9 times out of 10, you see these on women who are rail thin.  Eat a damn donut once in awhile.  Kate Moss is NOT attractive to most men.

I've found a question that has worked well for me in that it gives more of a glimpse into the person's "character".  It's not related to BDSM at all, unless you want it specifically to pertain to that.

"What are your biggest pet peeves?"

Answers have an enormous range from "people who don't signal their lane changes" and "people who leave the cap off the toothpaste" to "people who  take advantage of others' weaknesses for their own gain".  I've been able to tell one guy was a neat freak, one was definitely ADD, etc...

It has actually amazed me how much I can learn about another person from the answers they give to that one simple question.  I usually ask them to give at least 4 or 5 responses, just off the top of their head......I mean we all have things that other people do that bug us and naming 4 or 5 isn't all that hard, is it? [;)]   Another way to ask the question is "What do other people, in general, do that makes you nuts, pisses you off even if you don't know why it pisses you off?"

ppl that can determine a personality disorder from a short conversation..  Give me a fucking break

BadOne

People who confuse every disorder as a personlity disorder. LOL
I don't recall ADD being in the list of personality disorders, double checked and didn't see i this time eithert.

Although I agree that we have far too many laymen diagnosing each other and themselves without the proper education and training.

LadyPact -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 8:45:27 AM)

Sure, why not.

Any situation where someone wants to kiss Me, while I have food in My mouth.  Even a peck on the lips drives Me nuts.

The use of the non-word "holla".  It's not a word.  What it is, would be the short version of the word "holler" being said by people too lazy to make an "r" sound at the end.

And, yes, the attempt at equalization between online and offline.

Lashra -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 8:50:42 AM)

My four pet peeves:
1. People who allow their kids to run around like rabid wolverines in public.
2. People who toss trash anywhere but in a trash receptacle.
3. People who do 10 things they shouldnt be doing while driving.
4. People who blow their nose at the dining table, dig around awhile, look in their hankercheif as if its a piece of art. Go to the bathroom to blow your nose.

I agree in substance with you on this, but the "Golden Rule" has a slight problem. Other people might not want to be treated in the same way as you. The rule ought to be "Treat people as THEY wish to be treated".

lanie38 -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 9:08:32 AM)

people who clearly have 20 items in the 10 only item aisle

people who get in my personal space

know-it-alls

people who ask you questions like "does my ass look fat in these" and when you say it does they get pissed off

people who think they can sing and proceed to annoy anyone who will listen

i was having lunch with a co-worker who always did this... bellowing "EWWW...THAT IS GROSS!" stopped it.
and for heavens sake...why do they have to look?

Corvidae -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 9:33:40 AM)

Hmmm... my more irrational pet peeves are:
From my time as a cashier... people who dig around in their purse/wallet/pockets for exact change on say a $2.97 bill and end up taking like 5 minutes and then hand it over and then act as if they just did me a huge favor and they want me to thank them... seriously it takes me about .5 seconds to get three pennies out of the till. However, this is kind of a snarky pet peeve, considering they are usually just trying to be nice (except for the person who sees there is a huge line behind them, but still decides to get rid of all those coins they've been collecting over the years by paying the entire bill in change... if you are going to dump your change, at least do it at a time when there aren't people waiting behind you to get rung up.) Conversely, there are the people who have a coin purse, but don't bother to get out a penny on a $5.01 bill.
Well, that was a bit of a rant that I imagine nobody actually wants to read, so move along... nothing to see here

... oh yeah, and people who tailgate

RCdc -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 9:56:38 AM)

I'm blushing, because I remember calling you that a little while ago. I meant 'kind' but my vocabulary had gone into blonde mode.

Will you ever forgive me [:o] ?

kiwisub12 -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 10:12:09 AM)

People that don't spay their animals, or get them medical treatment when they need it because they are just a cat/dog/parrot etc.

People that smoke and drink, but "can't" afford to take their kids to the doctor/dentist.

People that complain about their jobs ad nauseum but don't try to find one that they can like or even love.

CalifChick -> RE: Biggest pet peeves or "what people do that really piss you off" (4/15/2008 10:46:46 AM)

People who profess, sometimes quite loudly and vigorously, that they have certain qualities that they want to have, or think they should have, but don't.  It's even worse when one of those professed qualities is something that is on your "must have" list.

People who smoke where you have to walk thru their cloud.

People who wear too much perfume, even after you kindly and graciously explain your "no perfume in the office policy"... after all, it doesn't apply to them, now does it? (an offshoot of the peeve that states "the rules don't apply to me").

People who don't take what seems to be even minimal adequate care of their children (improper car seat use, playing outside unsupervised on a busy street, etc.).
