I dont need to love the guy that I have beat me at a dungeon on a Friday night... in fact .. I dont even really need his name ... "NEXT!"

but I do need to love the guy I sign myself, all my possessions, rights, hopes and desires over to in complete power exchange ... otherwise .. why bloody bother!

For myself, I crave love. As I've said before, I'd give up D/s for it.... but I sure as hell don't intend on that happening, if I can  help it.

But I really can't imagine that happening.  Whenever I mention bdsm to any vanilla folks, damn near all of them believe it's nothing more than a mental disease.  And that any explanation I give about it is just an attempt to "rationalize a serious problem that you need professional help for." 

How could I be in love with someone that narrow-minded?

Love can be a tricky motherfucker lol.... it doesn't always knock before barging in. But I understand what you mean.

Thanks for the compliment - trying to show i can be as sophisticated as i am slutty! LOL!
 
As to being able to resist...its kind of like you and your delicious "poll fetish!"  Resisting is only fun when it's against some rope!
 
As to what the "ancient philosophers" meant when they spoke those eternal words for those of us that "love to love"...perhaps they meant there is something to love in everyone? i like to think that~

Some warmth, yes, although the depth of feeling has varied widely from person to person.  Example: I wouldn't put the buddy I spanked with a belt for his b-day on the same level as my current play partner who isn't at the same emotional level as my SO.

I can do kink without love.

I can do some forms of D/s without love--how much love do I need to feel to fetch a cup of coffee on command?.  But, it doesn't go very deep.

But, I don't think I can love without at least the s part of  D/s.  My internal intimacy model doesn't include the possibility.  I could do without the pomp and circumstance of lifestyle D/s, the vocabulary of dominance and submission that we use here on this site, but if I love someone, I'm going to be pretty submissive to them.

Sometimes I wonder if I can do life without s-ing all over the place.
