Yeah for the crafters, knitters, sewers, and other such creative types!!!

I am a crafter, sewer, and quilt maker, and am currently making myself a belly dance costume.

I have to say, I really admire you ladies who can knit. I have never gotten the hang of it. I once (40 years ago) tried to crochet...what can I say? I really admire you ladies who can knit.

I admire ladies who can crochet!!!

I am NEARLY done sewing the afghan together. Four strips left to attach, the long middle ones. Why did I decide to work my way in from the shorter ends of the rectangle? It goes fast, but I get sick of it fast too. Black yarn, black squares, working at night in a not-great lit room. Luckily it looks good in natural light, I can sew from muscle memory!

Still unsure what projects to start next. A quick finish one, like the alpaca mitts? Or the cardi?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/8/2010 8:56:05 AM)

I say go for the mitts and we want pics as well.

I want my own camera since Mom does not allow me to touch hers...[&:]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/8/2010 10:31:09 AM)

Oh dang, PHOTOS. That will be the HELL of Etsy and everything else.

Dnomyar -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/8/2010 6:52:16 PM)

This is for my aunt in Louisanna

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/10/2010 3:53:50 PM)

When i got home yesterday there was a box from JoAnn's with the yarn to make hoodies for my three youngest grands for Christmas.  It's Lion Brand Recycled Cotton in a green they call "Seagrass".  It's worked in garter stitch (knit every row) on size 5 needles.

i guess i'd better get to work....

PeanutTigerinBox -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/10/2010 4:11:08 PM)

I am really jealous of you lovely ladies, I still don't manage to find the time to work on my knitting and crochetting skills [&o]

For now I have to set the priority to fix my dissertation and to move...just realise that this will go nowhere this year with knitting and crochetting...considering that after resubmitting my dissertation my dad will come to lie my floors (by then will be november) and then I will be busy to unpack all my moving boxes (as is no point to unpack them before he changed my floors)...

guess I have to leave my focus on improving my cooking skills for this year...knitting and co. will be due next year then [:o]

Dnomyar -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/10/2010 4:59:22 PM)

I have no time for knitting. Im trying to lay a tile floor in the dinning room. You people want to torture someone have them cut tile with a wetsaw while being nude.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/10/2010 10:24:26 PM)

I don't want to imagine stone flecks hitting me.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/11/2010 10:17:54 AM)

Today i'm working on the swatch for guage for the hoodies - 20 stitches & 40 rows should equal 4" X 4".

My dad is going to lie my new floors in my new accomodation and nope [:'(][:'(][:'(] I don't wanna see him doing it nekkid [:'(][:'(][:'(]

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/11/2010 6:17:47 PM)

i finished my swatch.  It's just slightly bigger than 4" X 4".  Just off by one row and one stitch.  i'm going to wash it and see if it shrinks.

tropicalhoney -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/11/2010 6:48:42 PM)

I just wanted to say thanks again for the suggestion by LadyHibiscus that I combine colors to match the ones that are no longer manufactured. Unless I look really hard, I can't tell the difference. I am trying to get this needlepoint before Christmas which shouldn't be a problem but somehow may be. She will be thrilled as she knew my mother had started it and assumed it would languish forever unfinished. Trying to get this house ready to sell is taking too much of my crafting time!

The afghan Shahar is starting is much like some my grandmother made for my children when they were little. Now the grands are using them!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/11/2010 7:07:03 PM)

This is my first time working with mofits.  I just have to follow the directions and hopefully things come out right.

Tonights; dinner was chicken tosados...I am in love...<3

tropicalhoney -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/12/2010 10:31:25 AM)

I'm planning chicken tostadas for dinner tonight - great minds do work in tandem!

Does anyone know of a pattern for any of the cools fluffy scarves they have in the stores this year? I would love to make one for my daughter-in-law for her birthday.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/12/2010 11:26:21 AM)

Ran out of the Funny Prints yarn, i am just short of the borber.  Had to get a skein off of ebay.

Attacking the black Flecks yarn so Lizard can have her wrist warmers.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/12/2010 3:59:03 PM)

th - do you have a picture of the scarf you want?

i washed and dried the swatch (for the hoodies) and it shrank only a tiny bit. In fact after washing it matches the guage.  Yay me!

tropicalhoney -> RE: Needles and Hooks (9/12/2010 8:38:49 PM)

Kind of like this but the ruffles are knitted on rather than having a seam. Also, much larger stitch and with fluffy yarn. Sorry, but I couldn't get the picture to transfer.
