Okay, knitting issue solved, I am back on track. Whew!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/7/2010 10:28:54 AM)

Had a fubar with the afghan, got it figured out.  am running around half nekked before going to the appt.

LadyDragonMist -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/8/2010 6:06:05 PM)

My queue for the 12 in 2011 is currently at 15 & it looks like I'll be adding at least 2 more. I think I need help.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/11/2010 9:13:07 AM)

i'm back to working on the hoodies for the three youngest grands.  Since all three are going to be at the same house for Christmas, i'm using different buttons to tell them apart.  There are slight size differences but they all look the same.  One has green turtle buttons.  The two other ones have little frogs - lime green and dark green.

Well, I have SOLVED the lace camisole issue. Oh, I did get twenty rows done to check the pattern, and decided that the fabric was too firm, so am sizing up the needles. Another cruise of evilbay found Colinette MERCURY in the Velvet Damson colourway... which will coordinate, if not actually match. (I know better to expect a MATCH from Colinette!) So, there will be garter stitch side panels of shiny Mercury, and a row of the same around the hem and neckline to tie it all together. Voila, a cami that fits!!

No, I have pretty much NO reason to wear a lace cami that needs ANOTHER cami under it anyway! But it will be really pretty. And I will not have bought more Lasso, only Mercury which I really love, in a great blue-violet colour.

Yeah, I have no control when it comes to yarn. Not News.[:(]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/16/2010 3:42:46 AM)

I got the afghan almost 3/4 done.  I came across where there is a large knot and I have to fix it before I finish the afghan.

The funds from this sale it going to get bed frames in Lizards' room or more Christmasy stuff (I go for some fuzzy navel wine coolers).

After this project, I have five more projects to do.  I will finish up the penguin and lady bug for my nieces, get Aunt B's afghan and Aunt M afghan (it is a beautiful afghan done in 2 ply yarn.)  I am making my nephews' blanket in different camos.

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/16/2010 8:37:30 AM)

i'd like to start to crochet now at last but cant find my damn hooks [>:] i hate it that this is common after tidying up [>:]

LadyDragonMist -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/20/2010 5:56:46 AM)

I finally finished the sweater I was making for myself. I started it in May & kept setting it aside to do other projects. I'll take pics & post the to my blog & Ravelry later.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/23/2010 5:19:37 PM)

Almost there..then I give Lizard some lessons so she can get started.  I got my library playing so I don't have the tv distracting to me.

I was also bringing this up for the new gal to see.

lilmissdefiant -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/23/2010 5:28:48 PM)

I like making pompoms out of wool

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/25/2010 7:37:00 AM)

I finally started to occupy myself with crochetting [:)]

Found the hooks and trying to follow a crochetting pattern...if it works out well, then I will do that and similar pattern a few times and then stitch them together to a throwover for the bed...that way I do small pieces and have plenty time to get used to it...am really glad with the book I have as it explains it really well [:)]

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/27/2010 6:15:33 AM)

Whilst I started my mentioned project and am really pleased with my progress, I decided today to stop it for now as I want to use thicker wool for it, which I already ordered on ebay...so am going to have to look for a different project later to occupy myself...but for now, time to do some ebay (selling)

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/27/2010 11:57:28 AM)

I was working on the afghan (she is paying me on the next payday), when suddenly, Binx (the cat) wanted to be beside me...on the afghan.

So now, we got cat hair all over the afghan.

Talked to the woman and she says that it is okay.

I can see her dog going crazy because of the cat hair.

Speaking of which...where is Binx and Little Bit?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/27/2010 12:08:00 PM)

Damn...I completely forgot Mom's afghan for the fair next year...

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/27/2010 4:08:05 PM)

I got some Colinette Mercury to make side panels for the cami, and I am gonna use the Mercury as a border on the bottom and around the neck/straps so it all goes togehter. THey are both "velvet damson" but of course look wildly different. I adore Colinette yarn, but never was DYE LOT a more important concept!

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/28/2010 6:46:30 AM)

i just finished a pair of fingerless gloves.  i had to change the pattern a little because they had the seam on the top of the hand - i put it at the side.

What do you make with ribbon yarn?  A nice person sent me several balls of it.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/28/2010 9:31:12 AM)

You can do all sorts of things with ribbon yarns. I use them a lot, just mess around with needle/hook size until you get a fabric you like. Lacy stuff is extra fun.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/28/2010 11:07:21 AM)

Thanks, i'll see what i can do.

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (12/28/2010 12:54:14 PM)

I think I start tomorrow on socks again...I ordered today a heck of a lot of chunky wool on ebay for my throwover for my bed for crocheting and considering the kind of wool which I have at the moment I think that jumper or socks are the only options really for that particular wool...and I don't go on a jumper yet...have to build up my stamina at first...but that also means I need to find somewhere online how many stitches I need to cast on as my sock book are back home (thank goodness I fly home in 3 weeks time)...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/1/2011 3:41:17 PM)

I thought that this peace sign afghan had me defeated (all loopy, no sense of definition).  As I was holding it up, showing the mistakes to Mom, she came up with a perfect solution.

Just crochet up the borders and background, cross stitch the sign with the directions.

Why didn't I think about it earlier?

Ignore the drops of blood from the numerous head to desk motion...
