Unless you are from a very strict family then you really can't pin yourself down on being from just one place and one heritage cos every family has someone in it that isn't of the same origin as someone else, especially nowadays so no-one can be that pure

I thought that most of the people who settled in the Southern hills in particular were Scots Irish.....now, aks me what that is and I will have no idea but, I have read it and heard it enough times I was convinced. I only claim to be Irish on March 17th or so when I attach that kiss me I'm Irish pin to my zipper.....Kiss me I am a WASP doesn't work quite so well!

The sad thing is that in English we don't even have a word that means we are from the United States. In Spanish, the word is Estados Unidense. It means literally - a person from the United States. What do we have? An arrogant word - American - which suggests that we are the only important people from the Americas... The Bolivians, the Canadians, the Chileans, the Mexicans, the Estados Unidense, we are all Americans. When traveling to Canada, I was asking directions for how to get back to "America." "This IS America" the Canadian man told me. Well, you know what, he was right.
