Hillary voters seem pleased with Palin pick

Status: offline 		I was checking out a few of the Hillary Clinton message boards to get their reaction to this...these people were some of Hillary's biggest supporters....You all think women would never vote based on gender? Take a look at some of these comments....

Here is what one poster said who claims to be a Hillary voter...
"I LOVE McCain!!!! He pulled through for us."
 
And another:
"All this B.S. that the Republicans are racist and sexist, yet colin powell and condi rice were some of the biggest players in the rnc.
Now Sarah has been confirmed.
What does that tell you about the DNC.. Hypocrits?"
 
Yet another:
Leave it to the GOP to pick a woman for the ticket.

Obama snubbed the most viable and experienced woman who received 18 million votes, for another MALE.

I have a feeling, somewhere somehow, Hillary is snickering!
 
Another:
I think McCain has just scored a huge number of HC supporters.

It's no mistake he chose a female - he is going to deeply tap the huge amount of support Hillary Clinton received.

It could potentially however set up a Clinton v. Palin battle in 2012. Wow, wouldn't that be CHANGE when it's been MAN vs MAN for an eternity!

Her message boards are filled with these comments... This is by no means scientific polling and many of these are likely radical Hillary voters. There are a few that claim McCain is just looking to score votes. But the vast majority say they are going to vote McCain now. And that at least shows that maybe this move by McCain will work and he'll peel some of those voters away from Obama.

Status: offline 		I think people from that site need to pick up a history book. "Man vs. man for an eternity"?  There's only been 43 different presidents in the "long" history dating back to 1776. Hardly an "eternity."

My biggest worry however, Hillary voters are pleased with Palin? Why? because of her gender or because she is a good candidate to represent all 305 million Americans?

There's a reason why Hillary lost the DNC to an African-American Male. Yes, a Male. Why should he settle for "second" best? In doing so might render himself as a hypocrite for running against Sen. Clinton but putting her on the ticket. He would've lost a lot more of his supporters in doing so.

Anyway that's what I think. What do you think Cyberdude?

Status: offline 		It's too early to tell how the real impact will resonate from this choice. And no, I'm neither a fan of McCain or Obama. Right now, all that's being received is gut reactions. It takes a few days for things to settle before you start to hear, as Washington once stated: "the real voice of the people" which comes after "cool and deliberate reflection". Anyhoo.

Status: offline 		It would be hard to count all of the ways this pick is bad for democrats. The first to come to mind for me.. Biden will have to be polite as pie when he and Sarah have a debate. I don't think he knows how..

I bet that the number of disgruntled Clinton voters who will defect to the other side aren't nearly as numerous as they're said to be. It wouldn't surprise me if most of it was a rumour propagated by a think thank/PR machine with a shop just around the corner from the White House paid by the republican party.

Status: offline 		Very true, however this is in the run up to the GOP convention. And they doubled their ratings in my opinion. People, even those that have no intention of voting for McCain, are now going to tune in and see what the Republicans have to say. And those 18 million Hillary voters are going to be glued to their TV the night that Palin gives her acceptance speech. And the polls before the DNC convention showed that nearly a 1/3rd of those voters were telling pollsters that they will NOT vote for Obama in November. That's 6 million votes right there.

That much was always a given.

However, it is quite likely that number of disgruntled Clinton voters who will defect to the other side just got decidedly larger.

And will continue to grow the longer the Dems bash McCain for picking a WOMAN as his VP.

Status: offline 		I don't vote  for gender, or color, and I'm very female. I look at how the candidate stands on the issues. Palin's stance on abortion was an auto turn off for me, so no my vote won't be going to these candidates.

I find it hard to believe woman,in large numbers,will vote for McCain ,cutting their own throats in  the process.A McCain Presidency would continue to pander to the religous right and appoint SCJUS who would overturn Roe-vs-Wade.McCain's history on issues that matter to woman should give any female thinking of voting for him chills...

Kind of like Mondale/ Ferraro?
I doubt McCain's choice of Palin had as much to do with her sex as it had to do with her values. On first impression she seems quite sharp.

Team Obama spent 4 days scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of the game. And then Team McCain just ran back the kickoff to tie it up again and regain momentum. He said it is a great strategic move for McCain who has successfuly knocked Obama's speech and the DNC convention off the news.

The point of the matter is that he "chose" instead of settling. A lot of Hillary supporters wanted him to fast-track Hillary to be his VP.
