This will not affect who I vote for.   I still don't like Obama. I am not sure I even respect him.  I won't be voting for him on the basis of him being a great speaker.  I still have great respect for McCain, even though, I disagree with him.

That being said, I think it was brilliant of McCain to pick a woman.  I am sure some women will vote for him mostly because of his pick for VP.

It is looking more & more like my vote may go to who I may feel is the lesser of two evils, rather than who I think will do a better  job of running our country.

A historical speech will remain in the history books; a gadgety vice-president nomination by a candidate who is bound to loose will be quickly forgotten :-).

Kittin, she hasn't made her speech yet.

Popeye, get with the program: the historical speech I referred to was Obama's, of course. Should I be surprised you didn't catch that bit :-) ?

Which speech?

I think McCain should do the honourable thing and concede victory to Obama now  .

Ah well, it's not surprising, really  . Still, you'd better catch up, if you're going to play  .

Hah. I'd like to see what the voters say in a week and what they say on November 4th. Some people are decided already but most are still undecided and have voted in the past based on their allegiance to their party. I want to see some good substantive debates, not just who looks better on camera. I want to see issues dissected and less attacks on each other's character flaws. America still has a voice and there's still time for us to speak.

I think the flash will not last long... When Old Georgie and and that sharpshooter Cheney speak on Monday it will be interesting to see how McCain and The Gov. will separate themselves...and to be successful they will have to do so! Too bad for McCain that there isn't some way to avoid George and Deadeye Dick from speaking at all.I read good things about Governor Palin just not sure in a political sense once the shock value fades, where she fits? I know she is Pro-life a whistle blower on corruption and NRA member etc. but, a 2 year Governor from the least populated state in the union? She is the antithesis of Hillary Clinton and in no way do I see those that think Hillary would be a good President switching to her simply based on gender. Just a reaction, but I would think a fairly sound one.But hey...I am just another Old White Guy, and Lord knows we have screwed the country up pretty well....I love this election!...what a great time to witness a bit of history!

Go ahead then, man, for crying out loud! For all this whining about not addressing what matters, I don't hear many voters debating what's important: I hear a lot of demolishing the opposite side though. Get a soapbox, gather some people, organise demonstrations, demand to be heard. Go for it!

With the hurricane heading towards New Orleans.....likely Bush and Cheney wont even be at the convention. The hurricane gives him a perfect excuse to skip the convention and say he needs to keep to his presidential duties.

I'd still like to see people take to the streets  . It would be about time, for sure. How you guys managed to put up with all the shit that's been going on with hardly a sound, I'll never know.

A pollster on TV put it into football terms.....
Team Obama spent 4 days scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of the game. And then Team McCain just ran back the kickoff to tie it up again and regain momentum. He said it is a great strategic move for McCain who has successfuly knocked Obama's speech and the DNC convention off the news.

DESPERATE MCCAIN TACTICS.  I heard that insiders those close to McCain said that his jaw dropped to the floor after watching 4 days of Hurricane Obama reaped destruction all across McCain City.  He had to pick up his jaw from the floor and throw a "Hail Mary" last ditch effort thrown by the dirty-old geezer who (with him and his campaign one foot in the grave) had to jump on the Obama Express to get some free press coverage to save his last sinking ship at Port McCain.
USING a woman who is nowhere near Presidential, as a TOOL is analagous to how they USED the AMERICAN PEOPLE'S TRUST in 2000 to TRASH AMERICA'S COUNTRY, WORLD STANDING, ECONOMIC HEALTH.  Typical Republican men will do whatever it takes to get into the White House and further their OWN SELFISH Oil / Beer interests.  What REAL ISSUE is there that has to do with Ms Palin??  Nothing.  The only issues I see are:
(1) He's a hypocrite citing experience as an issue by attacking him for 18 months, while he picks someone EVEN LESS experienced than Obama.
(2) Thinks Hillary women are stupid raving lunatics that WANT *ANY* WOMAN IN POWER. Talk about tossing the scraps... (Hillary women are smarter than THAT.)
(3) He's DESPERATE FOR ATTENTION.  McCain is what he is (after he stops hiding behind attacks, and crazy ploys based on his typical signature loose judgement and temperament).

and finally.... McCain is just a desperate, crazy man in general.  You can see it in his temperament (the Republicans have obviously kept him well-drugged this election), his bad (or lack of) decision making skills, his understanding of the general population (including intelligent democratic women)... basically none, his flip-flopping pandering to the republicans in a desperate lunge for power that has rightfully always eluded him, his boring uninspiring self, his limp due to the ravages of a decaying body from old age and dull mind.

Need I say more?  (well, I could but he's old news.  Time to move on to better people and a better tomorrow...)  Buh-bye McCain.  It was nice knowing ya *smile* (well, not really).

What's even more funny chickpea, is that Obama's people are coming out today blasting Palin because she is "too inexperienced" after 18 months of them saying experience is overrated.

LOL!!!

Oh man....dont you just love politics..... Forget about Survivor or any soap opera. With all this drama, backstabbing, lying, and hypocrisy.....This election is turning out to be the perfect reality show.

Democrats cite her as risky.  And those democrats who cite the experience thing (and fall into the republican trap in the republicans' game [all they do is play games]) are probably pointing out how hypocritical and untrustworthy the republicans are (Not to mention, irresponsible and lack of respect in toying with the highest echelons of office in this country).  I say Republicans are USING HER to cause chaos.  (They're good at that.)

At a time when we need well-thought out actions, SMART STRONG GOOD men, and firm plans, I'd overlook the trouble-makers (Republicans).  If you have a job, hope it's a good one, because you're going to loose it if Republicans continue reaking havoc in Washington and around the globe.  Good luck behind that computer.

GREAT POINT!....almost forgot about Gustav....think They could send Cheney down to handle the situation? Maybe tie him to a palm tree for a really good view?...Wouldn't want Dickie to miss out! He could be like Brownie was....doing one heckuva' a job, as George put it...about a week before he fired him for being incompetent!
Let's hope for the sake of the people remaining in New Orleans Gustav misses New Orleans and somehow hits Washington D.C. I have a whole list of folks I think might need to be eye witnesses!

Thank you from this end of the globe.  One thing I love about Europeans, is they cut through the Republican crap and mud-slinging that is Bush and his nightmare entourage of creeps (Rove, Cheney, Dickhead, Dumb and Dumber) reaking havoc across they Globe to wholly ensure the safety and security of their fat wallets.

My fellow Americans, the only way to redeem yourselves (as a smart and ethical group of people who can take on the challenges of the 21st century) to the world, and let them know that you're smart and won't let yourselves get taken advantage of by the evil that is SELFISH BUSH is to *TRASH*THE*REPUBLICANS* by a LANDSLIDE come November.  Thank you.

Kittin, I watched the first 3 days of the DNC and it was a Snoozer!
Most of the time you had to listen to the announcers speculating on what might happen because there was *nothing happening*.
An hour to an hour and a half between speeches!
Then they drag out the dying Kennedy and he didn't really say anything!
I switched to the History Channel!
Even that crazy bald guy said, "Man, they need to get to work here, they've wasted the whole first day!"
