2012 will be the incumbant's 2nd term...President Obama(has a nice ring to it ,sort of chokes you guys right up,doesn't it)will indubitably run for re-election!

It certianly chokes up The Clintons

I was going to ask what committee is he running to be president of... but I guess your response is more relevant. Then again maybe it is a new support group for former presidential candidates.

I heard the new Obama campaign motto is "Hubris, you can believe in"

Did you read his website like you read Das Kapital?

Yes, I did.  Which is to say I read it "cover to cover."

That's very difficult to believe but carry on. Anyone who can dismiss a masterpiece of intellectual thought, whether they agree with it or not, doesn't believe in intellectual thought.

Marx was wrong.  University academics may find it stylish to celebrate his errors, but outside of the ivory tower that celebration has done more harm to humanity, to individuals, and to the environment than any other idea of the last 300 years.  Which is why Marx's ideas have been rejected even by the totalitarian states that presumed to celebrate his grandiloquence.

Sublime and subtle thoughts predicated upon error are themselves error--and, yes, they are dismissed.

Marx's ideas were never used by totalitarian states because if you have read Marx, you would know his ideas have nothing to do with totalitarianism but were mainly an analysis of (19th century) society, the means of the production of wealth and the subjugation and exploitation of the poor by the rich. The right often purposely misquote Marx's political ideas out of context because they are scared of the potency of them, though even the USA has been influenced by some of Marx's ideas, there is not a democracy in the world that hasn't been influenced by his ideas but of course you would know that  because you had read him.

So the Soviet Union, The People's Republic of China, and their satellites never existed?

Or is your argument they were never totalitarian?

Lenin studied Marx.  So did Mao.  Ho Chi Minh and Che Guevara were students of Marxist thought.

They interpreted Marx for their own ends like Christians interpret the bible for their own ends.

Marx said of himself 'I am not a Marxist' because even in his life time he was aware of people misinterpreting his ideas for their own ends but you would know all about that because you have read him.

Thank you for correcting the error of your original statement about Marx and totalitarian states.

Like all rightwingers, you seem to ignore the fact that democracies have incorporated many of Marx's ideas and you wouldn't call them totalitarian.
