Instead the Dems just want to put a giant bowl of condoms in the cafeteria with a big sign that says, "Take One."

Palin's daughter could have benefited from one of these free condoms so liberally distributed by the Democrats  . Harsh, but true.

Where's that bowl you speak of?

Anyone who sees this taken as a negative to the political base of the Republican Party in general or the fundamental 'Christian' right in particular is delusional and out of touch with reality.

Governor Palin is the living example of the alleged liberal goal of 'choice'. The situation is uncovering the reality of the liberal left that they want you to be free to choose; as long as your choice is in line with their idealism. The attacks are very telling and Senator Obama is wise to try and defray them. Senator Palin represents realty. Her daughter's situation can and does happen to anyone, including the good Senator's mother, it relates to many who consider themselves 'conservative'. To imply anything else would be to say that only the daughters of 'liberals' have babies out of wedlock.

Governor Palin's daughter has as much to do with the failure, or need of, sex ed in schools as Senator Obama's existence supports the pro-life agenda.

It was funny today....a bunch of pro-choice people are claiming Palin's daughter is being forced to have the baby.

How many fabricated stories are we going to get from the far-left?

Some Republicans are getting really worried: what will they do if more stuff DOES come out because the vetting process was done in such haste? The ultra conservatives will give Palin a hero's welcome when she addresses the convention, but this would make it seriously hard for McCain to pull the plug should he need to... it's like a soap opera, only better. 'Coz it's weal.

(the following is a non-partisan comment)  They'll do what all (note: I was non-specific) politicians do.. withdraw gracefully for some sort of mysterious "family/health reasons" and request that the media leave them alone as they "go through these difficult and personal times".

Ms Palin - like the rest of us - like Every Politician Out There regardless of party affiliations - is Human and has a Human Family.  Maybe with some of the "skeletons" that are coming out about her, things that so many of us face in Normal Life, she'll actually have a clue about the rest of us.  (Though perhaps That part is wishfully thinking and praying in vain.)

Very true.. and obvbiously unable to control that in her own life either...

....probably about the same as we get from the far-right.  Political opportunism isn't the province of one side of the debate, it isn't a partisan phenomenon.

How many houses does she have, then  ? The rest of your post, I've heard spewed by Republican advisors for the past two days: it's nothing new. Far left, far right, middle-ground: oscillate wildly (The Smiths).

That's an awfully bold assertion to make without offering evidence.

That said, I'll confess I've wondered how much choice Bristol Palin really got over whether to have the baby and the decision to get married.

How can an Alaskan separatist be VP of the United States?  Shouldn't she be Alaskan ambassador to Washington?  That way, they can recall her when they declare UDI.

I doubt you want any response to your 'deep' and detailed response. I doubt you can point to the "Republican" slant (bias) in my post; was it Senator Obama's personal history? But what the hell...

If you invest, whether it be pennies or houses; asking how many you have at any point of time isn't something you would know off the top of your head; especially if the portfolio is primarily in a spouses name. How many houses I or most of us own is pretty basic; but I know people, both liberal and conservative, who would have the same difficulty. Putting it in context of this site - asking many 'How many floggers do you own?"; may get a similar wrong answer.

I'm confused as to why you would have a problem with an obviously independent woman being named to a national ticket. A woman who didn't get her political reputation and name from her husband's success at that. Her history is not one of complicity with any party. Could it be that she represents change in substance versus change represented by the opposition who made sure to take on one of the most establishment identified and entrenched of Congressional representatives who despite his tenure has only plagiarism as an identifiable 'accomplishment'?

The fact that she's been vilified as a woman and as a political factor because Senator McCain picked her "to win!" should be something done as a script on SNL. Both he and she would agree with that 'attack'. Seeing the vitriol from the liberal, woman's rights advocates; is funny as hell.

Kittin, from the irony of your gun totting icon with your pacifist leanings to your disjointed comments; you always bring a smile to my face with your input to threads. In this case, in general you do make my point for me so... Thanks on both accounts!

All of the supposition that goes on...I have yet to read or hear any of the pro-life people ask about, or make statements about the young lady being forced to have the child. This is not about the young lady but, it is about the selection of the candidate and the process used to make that selection. If the Governor is found unsuitable for the position it will certainly make Senator McCain look foolish, as it did years ago with Eagleton in the Democratic party although, I doubt much of any substance is going to be found. The process of vetting, to be done on a national stage is poor planning in and of itself some could find it telling as to McCain's decision making, others will just ignore it but, to say that the lack of knowledge of circumstance by McCain might not "be taken as a negative to the political base of the Republican Party in general or the fundamental 'Christian' right in particular is delusional and out of touch with reality".  Is incorrect at best and perhaps delusional as well. I hope for the daughter's sake people will leave her be and she can find it within herself to be a good mother to a healthy child.

the judgement issues surrounding the birth of her son both look to be enough to get the job done.

What's this mean?

Just before giving birth, while 8 months pregnant, she flew from Alaska to Texas to attend a Republican governor's meeting where she was schedlued to speak. Her amniotic fluid started to leak, how this is different from her water breaking is a little vague to me, and she started having contractions the night before the speech. She sought no local medical attention and gave her noon speech before catching a flight back to Alaska, on a commercial flight while in active labor, which included a lay over in Seattle, she didn't notify either aircraft crew that she was in active labor, when she arrived in Anchorage she again did not seek immediate care but drove past two hospitals with NICU's to her home town's small regional medical center. Total time between her amniotic fluid starting to leak and her receiving in person medical care was at least 22 hours. This was the child with Trisomy born when she was 44 years of age.

All told I have issues with her taking a flight at 8 months, not going to a hospital in Dallas when things started happening, getting on two seperate flights while in active labor, not going directly to one of two hospitals in Anchorage and driving an additional hour before getting any care for herself and her son.

That's interesting, DK. How did you find that out?

I'm a little surprised the airlines let such a heavily pregnant person on a plane.

SilverMark, I'm not sure if your response is to me or not.  I'm simply an amused onlooker, as I had the great foresight to be born in London.  I'll join you in wishing young Bristol a happy birth - I have nothing to say about her situation at all.

It's intriguing that you suggest nothing "of substance" will come of the hasty vetting of the candidate, as though that will settle this matter.  Even if no new revelations emerge, doesn't this episode of "poor planning" show McCain to be a rank opportunist, unable to exercise good judgement?

McCain's camp has cancelled a scheduled interview between Larry King and Sen.McCain due to the rough handling their boy Tucker Bound(sp) recieved during last night's coverage. What is the strategy here, browbeat the media into asking only those questions McCain's camp feels are respectful? The McCain camp announced the segment in question "was over the line".Tucker got hammered after raising the Commander in chief of an armed force farce(I have seen the same foolhrdy statement made on these threads)just what command based decisions does she make,Tucker was asked. After hemming and hawing he cited equiping and deployment decisions...decisions clearly made above the Gov. of Alaska's pay grade...

Didn't Obama Mama do the same thing? She got knocked up and married her baby Daddy. Who then divorced her, so she dumped baby on Granny, and disappeared.

If anything needs to be vetted, I'd say find out why Obama Mama bailed on him.

Hmmm.. Is this how you usually speak, or are you using the "Ebonics" to make a sort of point?  Or perhaps the " '&s " keys are stuck on your keyboard, in which case, i beg your pardon.

It's not about Palin as a person: it's about her party's haste in appointing her as the vice-president nominee. The political infighting within the GOP is of great relevance in this election: so yeah, we're going to talk about Palin and the way she was 'chosen' over others.

what's this? kittin, are you backpedalling?

Palin is now "acceptable" but just chosen for all the wrong reasons?

I don't know the woman. Do you? However, it goes without saying that as a vice president, she's not acceptable. Wherever have you seen otherwise, elsewhere than in the GOP's propaganda handbook?

And why are you trying to make it sound like I ever said she was "acceptable"? Another argument technique you learnt, perhaps? It's so tedious, after a while.
