Global warming is simply a new religion that allows far left ideologues to feel good about forcing others through incredible suffering.

There are no insults, Sanity, just facts. You're still grabbing on to a set of beliefs - denying the existence of global warming belongs to that ideology. Do you remember when the Soviet Union collapsed? What's happening at the moment isn't dissimilar. It's surprising that you don't see that.

Global Warming is a damn joke. Our good ship goes through natural temperature cycles, and this is one of them.
And human activity has no impact on the current cycle?Science is a bitch it had no idealology and recognizes no preconceptions...and oh yeah it disagrees with your assesment....

The "science" behind global warming is crap. As for human activity impacting the current cycle....the "current cycle" of "global warming" goes back to roughly 1650--about 200 years before modern industry that Al Gore and his rabid pack of global warming fanatics blame for the phenomenon.

And yet there are very respected scientists who disagree with the assessment that humans are the major cause. But what I believe and you believe are totally different things. Either way, I don't care. By the time it truly impacts humans, I'll be gone, and since I am not planning on kids, it doesn't affect me. So please blast away, and mock my "ideology". I'll just chuckle and move on. bye now

The planet is healthy and viable--and will remain so despite Al Gore's efforts to micromanage it into oblivion. Mother Nature holds the trump card every time.

So, yes, steak and caviar for future generations is very much the issue.

Sanity,

Current, several successful windpower companies are building fervently around the country (including my rural county).

But the tax credits that help them develop that infrastructure will expire this year. We should renew it.

We are NOT short on oil resources. Companies now hold a wealth of leases on land they aren't drilling.

It's a power grab, while they think they still can.

Further---

Oil is a GLOBAL market. A company will sell that oil where most expedient and for the largest profit. That's abroad.

Want to bring down gasoline prices and increase supply? We need more refineries. We have for decades.

But no one wants them built near their communities.

Tim

I am very much interested in the impact of windfarms/wind technology on rural "quality of life" and economics. What is your impression based on wind turbine/powerline right-of-ways/local employment?

From what I've seen it is pretty good for the rural economy. The plots that each turbine sits on is leased in much teh same way Tyson et al leases land for industrial coops without the nasty smell. I'm guessing that some number of locals are employed for maintenance and repair but I haven't looked into it.

Wind farms are not being put up by traditional utilities with condemnation powers like when the transmission lines were put up.

How is ground that's covered by wind farms better than ground that's been strip mined and then reseeded and reclaimed by nature?

Yes, that's exactly the case.

Sanity's bizarre rambling defies reality. It's a windmill here and there, in the midst of a working farm. His comparison to strip mining is simply ignorant rambling.

Life goes on just as it did---with the windmills and the extra electricity, and with farmers making a better living, and still farming the same land.

What's wrong with that?

There's a windfarm just down the freeway from here, to the East of Boise. There are reclaimed mine sites just to the South of here as well, in the Owyhee mountains, where I hunt deer every autumn.

Have you ever seen a wind farm or a reclaimed mine site? Wind farms are damn ugly, and there's nothing natural about them.

And mine sites are so lovely. You are begging the question.

Here we have windmills in the midst of operating farms, with no problems whatsoever.

What's "natural" about a mine site? Bitching about what goes there later as a point for or against such projects is just silly.

Bizarre rambling?

Please...

It's not a windmill here and there, there's one after another dominating the landscape. You can't hunt there, you can't hike there, they're fenced off and there's no trespassing. It may as well be a toxic waste dump.

Nor a strip mining operation!
