It was a surprise to see this thread brought back up again. Thank you to those who've contributed in the last few days. The WidowSpiders did give me pause for thought - but I can't say that I've come to a firmer conclusion. Except on one thing. Crying isn't that difficult for me - as I said, I changed my mind on that because I remembered that I'd done it often enough with certain pieces of music, films, and so forth. I think that I, and the WSs, somewhat skated past that because we were all focused primarily on that specific kind crying in submissives which is caused by dominants. If I were to cry with a dominant, it would be as a result of things happening that had little to do with physical pain and much more to do with emotional pain. And it would never, ever happen unless I were to trust the dominant completely.
