My fiance called to get an update, and I was sitting there on the cell sayin "Oh My God".  I said it over and over crying and crying.
My stupid state went republican.   They always do.
It was the economy again!

I've never felt particularly patriotic. America was just the country I happened to have been born into. And there have even been times when I felt hugely pissed off with the direction America was going. Now, for perhaps the first time I can recall, I feel bloody proud to be part of a country that's making history... beautiful, beautiful history.

For those who have supported Obama, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
And for those who did not... I sincerely hope that you'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope that even if you do not care for the man you'll give him a chance to do something good for this country.

I guess it's impossible for one thread to just reflect on the moment without resulting in a political pissing match between two people who seem determined to argue about things that really don't matter right now.

WoW… an acceptance speech that made the crowd cry. His story about he 106 year old black lady and how her right have changed was pretty touching.

With all the bad stuff that is going on in our nation, this is a new start.  The man is walking into a mess and yet he seems to be representing hope to so many.  It reminds me of other presidents during hard times and what was reported about them.  It is hard not to get caught up in the emotional hopes and highs! lol  With hope, we have a fighting chance!

I have to give him credit, he is a political statesman. I just think he feels let down by the stupidity factor of his more redneck followers. Let down by their lack of respect for the process. Their lack of class and tact.

My son started whispering this man's name in my ears 2 years ago,it pained me to say it but at the time I felt it was so...a black man couldn't be nominated by a major political party in this country.....never have I been so proud to be so wrong.....I have spent large chunks of the evening on the phone with my son...a young man who has worked whenever his college schedule would allow it for this campaign.I am so happy for the young people who will live in a different reality than we older folks grew up in.God Bless America...and God Bless and grant wisdom to PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA.....it is truly morning in America...

Strange.  The man I voted for won and I only feel relief that the cycle is over for just a few more years.  The hatred and ignorance spewed by both sides this year has left me feeling numb.  Maybe its other news that has got me feeling numb.  Its hard to tell.
I wish President Obama the best.  He ran his campaign with class and that got him my vote away from McCain.  Had McCain shown the same dignity and class that he is showing tonight, this race would still be in the counting stage.  Obama's charisma would probably have pulled him through but it would have been closer.

Yeah, pretty much.

Even though there is quite a few things I disagree with, I can be happy over the hope the Iraq war will be coming to a close and even more happy that some of Palin's psycho Christian social issues won't be given much light.

I don't quite see all this "change" that the Obama campaign is a symbol of beyond the racial side of this (and am unimpressed with the general inability it seems for anyone to quantify what this "change" is), but, at least, I can see the bright side regarding the issues I do support.
