I suppose the worst thing you could say here is "I didn't read the whole thread..."...  [;)]

I don't suppose anyone knows how to go about this? With the brain being the biggest sex organ I do need someone I can talk with outside the bedroom as well.

Am i the only sub who finds this a little offensive?  i had no idea that submissiveness equates to ignorance.

Respectfully

No - don't be offended - this just means that he has a big head!  or as he might say - hydrocephaly [:D]

Well my guess is that the best way to find someone who is 'well read' by your standards would be to ask what people have read. For example is a large collection of Cosmo magazines good enough?

Also I tend to find that those who talk about how smart they are (IE the OP) tend to be the kind of people who will use complex words thatthey dont understand to sound smart, will read books just to sound bright and generally be completely dull to talk to (unless correcting people is your fetish)

brainiacsub -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 4:16:50 PM)

Funny that you should ask...I had advertised for a very intelligent, educated, well-read Dom because I wanted someone to listen to me outside the bedroom. I found these types to be a bit too narcissistic or otherwise lacking in other social skills. After a few conversations, I wanted to gag them, beat them, and have them write a thousand lines: " I will try to lighten up and be less boring."

Somewhere out there is someone you seek. Be a good listener, you'll find her.

stella41b -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 4:54:55 PM)

OP, let me get this straight, are you trying to tell us that you are unable to work out whether someone is intelligent or not from communicating with them?

Wow. I'm impressed. What's it like to have such an issue?

All I can do is offer the following advice - someone is intelligent if you can understand their intelligence, and someone is stupid when you can't.

Makes sense?

The "s" in D/s stands for Stoopid-- you are out of luck !

This reminds me of a curious fact: there is no way to weigh your brain while you are alive, true or false?

shymetalsub -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 5:59:01 PM)

It really is hard. I consider myself a geeky guy in a lot of ways, and I've always had trouble finding intelligent people to talk to. The only way I can think of is the obvious one: Look for subs who's profiles mention intellectual interests, like reading, science, politics, philosophy, etc. And in a non-internet encounter where a "profile" is lacking, just ask about her interests. If she says things that seem stupid, generic or devoid of thought, you've probably met a dumby.

smartalex -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 6:02:01 PM)

Be a smart well-read Dom.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 6:03:28 PM)

There are certainly ways to approximate the weight of your brain (as they can approximate the weight of a fetus using ultrasound and other scans), but I can't imagine any way to WEIGH it while you're still alive.  And after death the weight would certainly be affected by natural decomposition.

Heh, that reminds me of a scene I'll never forget.  I was in New York Public Library a few years ago and noticed a young couple looking something up on the computer.  There was only one available seat in front of the computer, so the man took it and the woman proceeded to kneel next to him naturally and unaffectedly.  Neither one seemed even seemed to think about what they were doing; they just acted instinctively.  The whole thing was quite beautiful to witness.

Ah but all weights and measures are an approximation subject to decomposition. Just see how far Comité international des poids et mesures people go to authenticate what a gram is or how a metre length is defined. Their weights are eroding sad but true.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 6:23:56 PM)

OK, sure, but there's a difference between direct measurement, even if it's imperfect, and indirect measurement, which can't be perfect even in theory.

FullCircle -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 6:40:15 PM)

How about MRI scanning where they can slice the brain into areas measure each area and assign a average brain unit density to it according to the slice thickness. Then they can integrate all the slices to sum up the total weight. Would that be anymore inaccurate than a set of scales with questionable calibration?

Sometimes the errors they average out like in the Simpsons rule.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Finding smart or well-read subs.. (11/15/2008 7:11:09 PM)

I think it would be less accurate than a direct measurement, even with imperfect scales, because brain density must vary not only from person to person but also from segment to segment.  One would be using approximate constants to calculate the overall weight.  But I'm curious now, and would love to hear an opinion from someone in neuroscience.

BINGO! Maybe he thought we weren't smart enough to remember his past post?
