On the up side, when it comes to detached-from-reality religious nuts running the country, I would agree with the choice of Romney over Palin.  Any day.

I sure hope the socialism we face as the result of this mess doesnt intrude upon the daisy picking profession that some of the extreme GOP faction supporters seem to enjoy when criticized for not stepping in unison.

Well the nomination of Romney for 2012 would be the 'capitalist' party finally putting it out there that it is about time we stop trying to be wolves in sheep's clothing and strip down to reveal it is time for a real capitalist in the white house.

And I think he did it the American way...inherited.

Palin was nominated for VP because she supposedly cleaned up corruption in Alaska's government.

Sarah Palin? Billing the taxpayers for her kids to travel to official events the children weren't even invited to? She finally agreed to pay back the state for that money she took.

Her per diem charges to the state in the amount of $17,000 while she was living at home instead of in the governor's mansion? She has now agreed to pay the taxes owed on that money. Another tawdry grab at a few dollars that didn't belong to her.

And now she is being considered a serious Republican presidential candidate for 2012?

how much did she save the state by not living in the Governor’s mansion and using all the official expenses there ;)

how much did the expenses of the prior governors compare?? you know those past ones that resided solely at the governor’s mansion?

Governor Palin turned down a $25, 000 a year raise, from $125,000 a year to $150,000.
did away with the executive chef, and staff at the Governor’s Mansion

Mr Cafferty isn't the first Dim to suggest that the Republican path to success is to become Dims, Dimlike, or Dimlite. I predict he won't be the last.

but Shake....the mansion nor the staff went away....they are still there and still owned and maintained by the state....just a bit of wasted space....all the while she charges the state for nights in her own home?????? I cannot exactly remember and it wasn't an issue I cared about but, I think the plane sale didn't quite go the way it was planned.....

Truckin, who would be your guy (or gal) to lead the republicans out of this mess?

I pick Goldwater, but he's dead.  And I'm a bit old fashioned and dont buy into the extreme religious or empire building nuttery that has come to represent republicans as of late.

I like Ron Paul as a person, but I dont think he'd be a good Captain of the ship SS Welfare State. He'd be my guy to lead the rebuilding after the SS Welfare State sinks on its own accord.

How much did she spend by traveling back and forth from her home to where she was supposed to be working at?

Ron paul frightens me for the same reasons I'm terrified of Obama... and I agree with their politics about the same amount.

Interesting that democrats are so afraid of Palin that they continue to attack this woman on the slightest "possible" infraction.  On the other hand, Barney Frank and others feel that the tax problems...outright stealing...are just minor distractions!
So please people...spare us the hand wringing of Sarah Palin...you'all are going to have enough time to do that in 2012.

On the other side of the coin:

>We're getting out of Iraq in 18 months.(only three months longer than promised)
>Religious luddites will no longer control funding for bio-medical research.(stem cells, and the legislation maing it harder to interfere with scientific research for political reasons)
>Money and aid is finally moving into the gulf coast.
>We have an entry level plan for high speed mass transit.
>We have a budget that will repair our infrasturctures (an end to collapsing bridges)
>The market seems to be rallying, to some extent, in major part due to the spending bill.
>S-CHIP is funded again, and will be expanded.

and, although Obama is not pushing for trials against member of the Bush administration for their war crimes, the UN and several other of the G-8 nations have said they will have no qualms about it, should they ever set foot on their soil. Hummmm... Carl Rove rotting in a Greek prison... yes, that will do nicely!

This is all about LOGISTICS.
The problem Juneau, the state's capital shouldnt be the capital.  Thats because most of the states business takes place in Anchorage and Wasilla is just outside of Anchorage.  While Juneau is a problem to reach from Anchorage.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/politics/story/52179.html

Knowles, who served as governor from 1994 to 2002, moved his family to Juneau and leased out his Anchorage home. When in Anchorage on official business, Knowles said he stayed at the Hilton hotel. He collected a meal per diem unless he was attending events at which meals were provided, he said.Murkowski, who served from 2002 to 2006, lived in the governor's mansion in Juneau. The state rented an Anchorage apartment for him for business in the city, and he collected a per diem while staying there, Perez said.
