So in fact the hysterical statistics you use are wrong. The statistic is 1/3 American women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetimes. NOT "raped". You totally misstated that to make your point. And the definition of "sexual assault" used in that study was "verbal or physical intimidation or harassment." Also, by the way, the study was "predictive" in that it is prefaced "based on current (1998) trends..." In fact, the accurate statistic is "Chances that an American woman will be the victim of a rape or an attempted rape in her lifetime: 1 in 12" Harper's Weekly, quoting a US Dept. Of Justice study in 1998. Now even 1/12 is unacceptable. My point is not to minimize rape, but to tamp down deliberate or ignorant hysteria. Make your arguments but please, don't lie. E And by the way, those of you who misuse statistics so freely (and some of you do it intentionally -- shame shame! The rest should have paid attention in 8th grade math class): 51% of American women are raped in their homes. Therefore, women should not be allowed to own homes. Disprove this, please.

"When you wake up, Pooh," said Piglet, "what's the first thing you say?" "What's for breakfast? What do you say, Piglet?" "I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.
