Other posters have pointed out that Susan's performance wasn't perfect, and (somewhat to my relief) I'm not musically adept enough to know. Yet I don't think perfection (or the lack of it) is the point. What moves me, and I suspect many others, is that Susan was singing for all of us--ordinary folks leading ordinary lives, not especially glamorous, trusting one's gift in the face of derision, wondering what it would be like to get that big break and nail it. That's why I feel like sending her flowers.
