Fantastic & amazing voice.

She was just great and I loved her attitude! Someone asked if anyone else ever blew away the judges. Yes... Paul Potts on the 2007 season of Britain's Got Talent.

Oh for crying out loud...  Can't somebody just say the obvious?  She's about as homely as they come, and in our society, we are so prejudiced against ugly people that the assumption is they can't be good for anything.

Not really my kind of music, and the whole vibrato thing is just annoying to me, but she did have a very nice voice.

Ok...and now let's all make very clear for everyone that the sun is round, tv's are generally square.

I still can't get over that sound.  It was nothing short of amazing.

Camille I thought the same thing. Beauty, true beauty, is everyhere if you look for it. She was amazing and I wish her all the success in the world, however she defines it.

I wonder how those 'pretty' women at the beginning who were rolling their eyes at her felt after she began to sing!

On the same show three years ago, basically the same thing transpired. Simon's reaction was the same, if not better IMHO. Check this out. This guy went on to win the whole competition.

oh my - my chin was in my lap and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. That happens only when music is very very good or incredibly bad. What an amazing voice. I'll be watching for her CD !!

Hmm, I'm a music major and took one class just studying opera where we'd take a role and listen to a few different professional singers sing it.

Considering that she's most likely *not* as well trained as a professional opera singer (which I'm guessing is what you mean by someone who can 'really' sing), and likely even as most, if not all, 'stars' of the day... she's amazing. There's a lump of raw talent there... probably more than any 'normal' singer ever has. If she's taught more skill... well, it'll pretty much ensure her staying power.

She needs to be taught the proper methods of vibrato, yes... but her natural grasp on the technique is the method that they usually use to start teaching people how to do it.

She probably needs to be taught what on key *is* to know that she drifts off key (and, really, I've seen/heard performances of even professional singers who go off key on easier songs more often).

The point is that this is a *raw* talent, which you don't get to see that often... and occasionally (in my opinion anyway) that is BETTER than one of the most trained voices in existence (or, at least, more moving). As a future music educator, this sort of performance excites me to no end. I *WANT* students like this because I want to work with that sort of talent! Getting to do that is one of the reasons I've seen *other* people getting INTO my field (moreso to get a chance to work with talent and create performers, rather than musical citizens, which is its own debate).

Simons face, within the first bar was the story, lol right there.
One of my mums favourite sayings is
"You can never judge a book by its cover", and its so true....what an amazing talent.
I felt the same about Paul Potts when he appeared on the show, in 2007

Lovely stuff, thankyou
Lucy

Incredible and yes Paul Potts did the same.

I gained a whole new appreciation for singing talent as I will NEVER forget laying down on a wet mud-soaked blanket on a Friday night in Monticello, NY. listening to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bxf2X4zP5k

aww LNN..
i know that feeling...

For me.. the only time i have ever cried in responce to a singing voice.. was..

i'd been asleep.. the Television was on.. Oprah was apparently on.. but i was asleep..

Till.. i heard a voice.. a male voice.. singing.. and slowly drifted awake.. and awoke to find myself sobbing in tears.. sure that i was hearing the voice of an Angel.

Well.. it was no angel.. but none other then Josh Groban.. i have been in love with his voice since.. surely an Angel on earth.. what a voice!

No, lets get something straight Les Miserables is my FAVORITE musical I have seen it 15 times and will see it no matter who does it because the story is AMAZING!

The way she sang the song is how it is sung and I would put her against any One else who played the part. She was AMAZING.

Raw? Sure. Needs Professional Lessons..... Nah I would like to see what she can do with her own voice not how someone else thinks you should sing something.

In My Opinion all Professionals sound the same, I want personal spin on things and you lose that the more you build into it with "This is sung this way and that is sung that way do this don't do this"

So that you know just about every writer in the world has broken the rules of grammer at some point and will tell you that you write what is to be read, if they can't get it then they either arent who you are writing for or you stopped writing for them and wrote to be printed. Let the editors edit, let the writer write.

But then Steel....imagine, just for a bit....what she could do if she was taught.

(And then I wonder what would be the damage if she was).

All I can say is....I watched that dammed video 30 some odd times last night....then again this morning a few times just to be sure I wasn't crazy....

I will buy her CD's....and I will buy 10 at a time and give them to people I truly care about....so they too can hear what Heaven sounds like.

That was something.

ABC News ran Ms. Boyle's story on this evening's newscast of World News Tonight with Charles Gibson. It was the closing feature story, a slot the organization usually leaves for the more uplifting stories.

At the time the story aired, Charles reported that 3.5 million people had viewed Ms. Boyle's performance online and over 1 million of those views came within the past 24 hours. That's impressive.

I love this sentiment.

Via youtube I came across the guy from Norway who won the world idol title (04).

His name is Kurt Nilsen.
Many of the quotes on the various performances are not kind about his appearance.
Likening him to a hobbit or Shrek.

He sings the last verse:

She is extra-super-special, that one. Thank you Lookie for posting, what an uplifting way to end my day. I love her honesty, telling the world she hasnt been kissed and that that is a shame. She is adorable. I dont have the words to describe how vulnerable she was with her hand on her hip making bawdy gyrations in the face of her nervousness.

At the end she seemed certain she was meant to leave, seemingly unaware of the effect she had on everyone. Why did the whole room go banana's the minute she opened her mouth? That is some crazy shit. She didnt realize the effect she had, may have thought she didnt pass the mustard. Meanwhile Standing O's from everyone (except Simon).

I think she is adorable and I actually prefer her sound and energy to some perfectly-pitched-never-go-off-key-perfect-use-of-vibrato-drop-dead-chicks that are smothering the radio these days.

She is truly adorable and she is going to kick some ass when she gets naked with a man (not literally hahaha).

She triggers a human feeling that supersedes classic beauty. She does appear to have nice skin for an older gal.

Good on her!
