Since LAM hasn't put anything down, I'll go:

Nequient

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 1:15:54 PM)

If that's really a word, it has to mean "being unable."  Nequire means "to be unable."

Next one..."athanasy"

mnottertail -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 1:24:59 PM)

eu than asia
hmmmmmmmmm..........

a than asy
without lifelessness???

Remember, Lam....you got me by miles in this and I flunked 9th grade latin.. so my roots are grey.......treat me kindly, buddy.

Ron

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 1:30:41 PM)

I think it's Ron's turn though?

bandit25 -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 3:44:45 PM)

Of course it's really a word.  And that is the definition.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 6:45:38 PM)

Everyone is getting "athanasy" wrong.

Ok, if it's not dead, then let me try death-like?

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 7:34:09 PM)

"Athanasy" means "immortality."  Thanatos means "death," so athanasia means "the state of having no death."

"Euthanasia," which Ron mentioned, is obviously related.  It means literally "having a good death."

Other words from the same root are "thanatopsis" (which we've done), "thanatology," "thanatic," and so on.

Next one..."mandarinate"

bandit25 -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 9:10:28 PM)

Mandarin - chinese   ate- hmmm...some kind of body...a specific group of Chinese people

FootQueen -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 9:35:51 PM)

mandarinate-collective body of officials or persons of rank in China

new: nomenklatura

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 9:37:02 PM)

Heh, good one.  The nomenklatura is the Communist mandarinate.

Next one..."cerulean"

FootQueen -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 9:41:59 PM)

sky-blue color [8|]

Lordandmaster -> RE: Word Fight (4/26/2006 9:42:45 PM)

Yup, and by extension, pertaining to Heaven.  Your turn.
