Okay so you get an email and so far it looks like the person has tried to read your profile and go by your wishes, so you respond.   Basically…tell me who you are.  If you are lucky you get a paragraph in response which includes a former mistress, yearning for _______(fill in the blank) and not much else.  You give one more chance… tell me about you, the person you are.

(Smacks self in head) Duh!  They just did!  Dingy dominant, non-morning person… get a clue!  Okay I have a clue; I just friggin forget it all from time to time.

I do try to be understanding and compassionate and know that words and writing don’t always come easy for some, so I do try to give a chance or two much to my own dismay or punishment I think. (Now)

So really, the expert on you is you and even if it is difficult to talk about yourself, isn’t it worth a bit of struggle to tell someone about yourself if you really, really want what you say you seek?

Do other’s feel like I do… that if I have to drag it out of you word by word, there is no way in hell you are going to be able to handle one conversation with me?

Or… am I being too harsh?

Not at all.  Although, to be honest, if a man hasn't told me about himself in his first e-mail, it's unlikely I'd be interested enough to respond.  But I also get the sense that you are a lot more tolerant than I am.

Shoot, V, most everyone is more tolerant than we are!  Though just a few minutes ago I wrote an explanatory mini-lesson to a local youngster who wants me to give him a black eye and a bloody nose...

Quick, call a dentist in your area and ask for commission if you refer somebody, with the prices for crowns, bridges and such, you could make a fortune, a cosmetic surgeon possibly too the nose might have to be reconstructed....

You're a genius!   Especially since he told me is not afraid of being robbed and left unconscious, he wouldn't hold it against the woman who did it!

I agree. My tolerance level is at zero. In recent days I get a huge amount of add me to my yahoo as I would really like to chat with you crap and the friends circle stuff...do I really look that bored??? I currently have the time of my life since I am on CM with my current involvement and even when that would not be the case I would not be interested to get engaged with people who approach me in such a way. Therefore my common response is just block and delete...

Once I was contacted from a bloke who did send the one or other strange one liner with stuff like tell me this and tell me that...WTF should I? So after 2-3 such liners with barely an answer from my side he was blocked as well...so he could call himself lucky that I did show some tolerance, but that was enough by then....am not in a quiz show on here to tell this and this and that just like that....*yawn*

I think from My perspective, you are bang on--I am not interested in talking about kink, IMHO anyone can talk about that---I start out with: "tell Me about the person who is the submissive, the man behind--what are your interests, hobbies etc.

If I get one sentence back, I'm done. If I get back, " i do what ever Mistress wants"  I'm done. Tell Me the things that are special about you, nothing.  99% of the time, I dont get a response back because IMHO they want to cut to the chase and talk about kink--nah, not interested.
If a sub can't chat about them as a person, they won't get off home plate.

Ah yes, the more mysterious of people here. It's something which gets on my goat.

You get a sentence. Maybe two. Just enough to make you want to reply back to know more. You check the profile and that doesn't give much away and so you write back and you get another two sentences back with a request to go on Yahoo or MSN, and so you log in and wait for them to appear.

Then comes the killer question...

'What would you like to know about me?'

Whatever you can tell me you prize pilchard!!!

I mean how are we going to get to know one another? Crystal balls? Osmosis? Smoke signals? Spiritualism? Maybe I should get the ouija board out and start asking those from the Other Side.

Because that is how it feels like. Is there anybody there? Knock three times if so.

It's like playing Twenty Questions or an emotional version of Battleships.

How am I supposed to get to know you if you aren't going to reveal anything about yourself?

Nowadays I give up and just put it down to passive aggressive behaviour.

I think this is more a "guy" thing than a submissive thing.  While I hate to stereotype, I'd say 90+% of the emails I get are of this variety- from doms, switches and male submissives.  On more than one occassion, when a dom has asked me to tell him about myself, and I respond back with a well thought out informative response- I have been replied to with something along the lines of- "No, I mean, what are you into?"   Needeless to say, they never do find out...lol...

I am trying the laying of the hands on the screen, when I perfect it, I'll share it, at the moment, all I get is warm hands!

I've also noticed something else. (Oh Lockit go back to bed! hehe)

When someone has passed a number of your little test and you are willing to go to chatting and they get through a lot more... the moment some sort of power exchange or expectation is presented... all of a sudden the talkative one goes into silent slave mode.  Answering only what you ask, listening until you go silent and wait to see how long before they will speak and if you don't fall asleep by then, you ask if they are there.  I'm just waiting on you Ma'am.  Well shit... bring back that other guy I was talking to last week!

Is this what some of you have seen?  I have only seen it recently and it has me wondering!  What are your thoughts on what is happening when this happens?  I can't be the only one! lol

I have noticed that too, Lockit!

I am a dom, but I am also a woman.  If a guy doesn't show some kind of response in terms of calling or writing,  I figure "just not that into me"  and I move on.  If he can't hold up a conversation anymore, I just figure he has run out of things to say!  (bored now!)

I get just the opposite.  I get, "Oh, we don't have a relationship yet."  No, and if I don't see some signs of why you are supposedly submissive, we aren't going to have one, either.
