omg, Loki....  I do adore you... LMAO!!

Seriously though.. there have been times when I have been pulled over for bullshit (I didnt signal for 100 ft before a lane change??  WTF?? ).. but they DID bust me for other shit...  mea culpa.

The team in the car was a seasoned cop and a rookie.   Guess who I had the most trouble with? to the point when his partner said.. "hey, back off"?  SERIOUSLY.

it is what it is.

Unlike SOME people, I recognize when I had broken the law.  I did the crime.  I did (some) of the time. and yanno what? I didnt crybaby about it.. I was BUSTED.. plain and simple.

In fact, I've gotten out of speeding tickets like that.. I pulled over, admitted my guilt.  and the cop gave me a warning or reduced ticket (because he did not have to chase me to pull me over).

In general, my experience has been: dont ACT like a fucking asshole, you won't get treated like one.

Darlin' you're wasting your time. When someone has a less than sane view of authority and law enforcement, you will never change their mind. Just take a look at the exchange between him and me. It devolved into him basically putting his fingers in his ears and calling me a cop groupie. Now he thinks he wins because holly put him on hide. What he fails to realize is he lost long ago, he just refuses to realize it. I felt like I was either arguing with a child, or with someone wearing a tinfoil hat. So I decided to let the insane person rant to the walls. Don't waste your time trying to 'convince' him. He's never going to get it. He needs to grow up significantly for that.

Hi Loki,

I guess i was hoping no one was that irresponsible or blind.  I think he does get it he just really believes that people who commit crimes don't and shouldn't be forced to take responsibility for their actions and should really get only pats on the head and treated like poor babies who don't know any better, and that just because they didn't physicaly harm someone its okay what they did and they should just get a scolding.

Honestly, i just can't believe there are people this bias against cops they refuse to see who really are the bad guys as a whole.

Strange isn't it? In his world, I think a traffic stop would go something like this:

Cop: "Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?"
Driver: "Who gives a shit? Why are you hassling me?"
Cop: "Because you were speeding."
Driver: "So? You can't stop me. I pay your taxes and you can't make laws. Prove I was speeding, where's the judge? I Want my lawyer."
Cop: "That's handled later Sir, I have to ticket you now."
Driver: "I am not taking a ticket, you can't make me. Fuck off."
Cop: You're right, I can't make you. The new laws leave us cops with no authority whatsoever. You can drive off if you like and I can't stop you."
Driver: "Good, thought so. Fuck off." *Speeds away*
Cop: "Gee, I hope he doesn't run someone over while speeding away like that. I'd chase him, but I'm not allowed. Oh well, if he runs over someone, I'm sure he didn't mean to. After all, he's non-violent and so it won't be like he shot anyone."

dammit, Loki....it's Happy Hour.. I should Tase you for making me spew my beer

Vampz -> RE: Granny tasers in TX~! (6/13/2009 4:58:53 PM)

Video was shown on news.

I thought she as in BAD mood and was *verbally* combative/challening AND she seemed to be needing/wanting the cop to show her some respect PLUS she was trying to get out of the ticket.

That being said, he went too far tasering.
Flip side~ maybe she is off her meds and would have tried to push him out into the traffic.

Personally I would suggest not screwing around w/ cops. She had been going 20mph over speed limit. She should not have given him a nasty arse bad attitude.

I'm thinking she will get fined/whatever and he will be teased about being afraid of an old granny. But then again, had she given him one good push...

barelynangel -> RE: Granny tasers in TX~! (6/13/2009 5:00:25 PM)

Unfortunately, that happens all too often in mindsets.  I mean don't get me wrong, i have spoken rudely to cops when pulled over etc, but it was only because i KNEW i was wrong and i didn't want to be made to take responsibility for it lol. So i blamed the cop the court and everyone else involved instead of myself for getting myself in that situation for well breaking the law in the first place.  Its always everyone elses fault. And i should just get off because i want to be let of.

Don't tase me bro!!

(Actually do...I have an inexplicable attraction to electricity. I know it hurts like hell but I can't leave it alone.)

We only hear the sensationalized things.

I think this is probably the biggest factor in the situation. Reporting either gives the average person a glimpse of the really ‘good’ or those of the really ‘bad’, many have little experience with the in-between.

The other thing is personal experience. I know of too many local police officers who are either abusive to their spouses, children, or are doing/have done the very things that their jobs have them out ‘busting’ others for.  These incidents are hardly ever/never put on any official reports.

It is too bad that what it boils down to is ‘man’ against badge; especially when those holding badges are only humans too. Perhaps some would not feel a need to knock them down so much, if others weren’t trying to place them so high.

Just a thought.

The paradox is perhaps they wouldn't have so many people rallying to their defense if they weren't already in so many other people's crosshairs for the horrific crime of "being human."

Here's a paradox that I asked in the other thread.....what have you done Loki?  You have no profile.  What have you done?  You like to critticize others for their views and offer suggestions.  Where is your contribution?

Please look up paradox in the dictionary.

While you're at it, learn what "offline" means under a person's name on this site.

Me too.

In every instance i have had, the police were as courteous with me as i was with them...and that seems to be the norm.

It does not surprise me that Slaveboy has had problems with the police in the past...[8|]

You’re right; they should just be considered individuals, like the rest of us.

Side note: Something I've been thinking about. Is an officer obligated to arrest someone who insists on being arrested? If they agree to arrest someone who initially would not have been arrested, are they obligated to still arrest that person if that person changes their mind?

That is a good question.  I will see what my cops say.  I would think yes -- because techincally to me, if someone is asking to be arrested that means they are asking to be brought before a judge to answer for the crime in which they are accused or admitting to.

This incident, she refused to sign the ticket indicating she would show up in court and instead she wished to be arrested instead.  So yes, i would believe in this incident a cop who chooses not to arrest her for not signing the ticket or/and her asking to be arrested would be responsible for her non-appearance if she did not show up.  If she would have calmly i am sure without all the ruckus said -- okay nevermind i will sign the ticket, he probably would have let her go.  Hell he may have even after her ruckus before he was driven to tase her because i don't believe his intent was ever to harm her OR arrest her until she gave him no choice.

Good question though.

cpK69 -> RE: Granny tasers in TX~! (6/14/2009 8:15:42 AM)

Actually, she did give him a choice, when she said she would sign the (fucking) ticket. He chose to arrest her anyway. I would think, if he was not obligated by law to follow through with her request to be taken to jail, then it would have been a lot less time consuming, trouble, and safer just to let her sign it, and address her belligerence in court; then to let the situation escalate as it did.

Not to pick nits Angel, but isn't receiving a ticket technically an arrest to begin with?

LafayetteLady -> RE: Granny tasers in TX~! (6/14/2009 8:27:40 AM)

Slaveboy, you are great at using terms like "most," "all", "every cop."  Sure many people will exagerate to prove their point, but can you offer any statistics to prove your point?  You say the ENTIRE justice system is corrupt.  Have you examined every court in every jurisdiction in every town in every state in the whole country?  Or are you basing this on your life growing up with the Hatfields and the McCoys who started out with no respect for system to begin with and who felt that they could do whatever they damn well pleased on "their land?"

Yes, you are stating your "opinion," but your arguments are always flawed, always filled with bias against the system and never have one solid fact behind them.  The majority of the people on these boards basically rest peacefully at night knowing that you would never qualify to sit on a jury.  All of the corrupt attorneys and judges would see through any facade of being a person who could fairly look at a case.

You equate your arrests with being caused by your "having fun" as a young man.  Apparently in your eyes, breaking the laws of this country which are put in to place to protect ME, mean nothing to you.  But I do have to wonder if all the trouble you got into in the past was because of your insatiable need to exercise your right to freedom of speech and your apparent desire to try to piss people off.  Plenty of people in my area would happily do the jail time to knock some sense into you.  None of them are the least bit involved in law enforcement either.  They just get annoyed with people who try to spread their ignorance.

barelynangel -> RE: Granny tasers in TX~! (6/14/2009 8:34:33 AM)

Geesh Sirsholly i did shower today so there are no nits to pick lol.  Technically, no i don't believe they are legally the same.  But i don't know why lol.  You make a good point with regard to how i worded my response.  Technically they do sound the same.  I will have to think on it as i know what i was trying to say but now, i have no clue how to say it.   I want to say no technically they are not the same, but have no way of explaining how right now.

low blow...

THE HATFIELDS and McCOYS signed a "peace treaty".. in 2003 although the fued was dead for a century..
The signed it as a symbolic gesture that Americans can make peace..no matter the circumstance..

I would like to have a person such as slaveboy at my side
in an altercation or when things get down and dirty and we are robbed for a turnip[:-]

I would think it depends on the person. If you run up to a cop and say arrest me, he'll probably either laugh at the joke or try and find out why you think you should be arrested. If you persist and it becomes a disturbance, then he might take you up on it. Depends how persistent you are about it.

The problem was, she already refused a cops instruction. She already caused a disturbance by her action. Some AM radio guys looked up the Texas laws on the matter and in Texas you can *not* refuse to sign a ticket. You say no -- you will be taking the ride to jail. It's not a choice.
