Will this woman ever go away?

Shouldn't failed vice-presidential candidates return to the Alaskan wilderness they came from, never to be heard from again?

We just had the feud with Letterman and now this:

Palin spars with critics over ethics complaints

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says her political enemies are abusing state law with a flurry of frivolous ethics complaints against her, putting her more than $500,000 in legal debt.

Those filing the grievances _ there have been at least 18 cases so far _ say it's their legal right to hold the Republican governor accountable for what they see as abuses of power.

What a fucking wacko. Of course, nothing's ever her fault; it's just people who are out to get her for some mysterious reason!

And speaking of fucking wackos, what's the over/under on how long it'll take for some of the rightwingers here to hop up on their soapboxes and accuse us of being obsessed with her becauce we're not doing the right thing and ignoring her latest self-absorbed publicity stunt?

LadyEllen -> RE: America's favorite drama queen in the news again (6/21/2009 5:57:37 PM)

Well, its progress. Twelve months ago I'll wager she'd no idea what ""frivolous" or "ethics" meant, and now she's using both words in a cogent way.

I wonder if she can spell them though.........?

Is that what that was?  A feud?  I thought Letterman had decided to make a joke so offensive it would be a TOS violation to describe it, then compounded the situation with a non-apology apology, before trying again when his own mother called him on it.  At least that is how I hear it went down.  I don't watch Letterman.

I'm not going to get up on any soap-boxes and suggest obsession.  I will sit here and accuse people on the left of rampant stupidity in keeping her name alive.  These "funny jokes" now may very well come back and bite ya'll in the ass if Pres. Obama's stimulus package fails and he is wallowing in Bush II approval numbers with the economy in the toilet when he comes asking for a second term.  Go ahead.  Keep demonstrating the liberal commitment to feminism and women's rights.  Keep making it easy for her to find sympathy votes in the middle.

I'd rather not have her carrying the conservative banner in '12, thank you very much.

I am embarrassed to say I was once voted for a member of a party that now thinks she is the future. Oh how the grand old party has fallen.

In the words of Buford Tannen from Back to the Future III,

"Ya' thought wrong, dude."

No matter how you want to twist that little fracas, no matter what you want to infer or imply, no one can prove that A) He knew her daughter was even at the game, B) That wasn't her already-with-youngin' daughter who was 19, or C) that he did anything more than read a joke written by someone else.

Oh sure, people can make inferences til the cows come home and paint him out to be some monster. But as Jeff Foxworthy said on Larry King....considering how many DECADES Letterman was on TV every single night, he was bound to make one bad joke.

The point being, it's over. Let it go. Even the dimwitted governor of the state that can see Russia has accepted his apology. It is now a non-issue.

Letterman didn't know her daughter was at a Yankees game?? Pretty good guess then. I wonder if it would be different if Glenn Beck would have told the same joke about Michele Obama and one of her daughters?

Yep, would have been a lot different.

Michelle Obama hasn't been on a crusade preaching abstinence-only to prevent pregnancy and one of her daughters didn't get knocked-up.

Ok only stealing the thread for 1 second.  I really don't think She had any right to bitch and complain about Lettermen. Hell when SNL said her family was into incest she did not complain, she even went on the show.  but that was when she had the news on her all the time, now she will do anything to get the press to coever her

And any of what you just said justifies the tasteless joke how? The double standard in the media how? By the by....lettermen DID know the under aged daughter was at the game...which is why his excuse that he meant the OF age daughter in that so called joke, is and was ridiculous

To borrow a phrase - the Couth shall rise again; but not before the unCouth are quietened down somehow.

You mean my one little post on CM is what is keeping Sarah in the media spotlight?

I hardly knew I was so influential.
