lol... So, because the pot is black it can't observe that the kettle is black, too?

It can as long as it doesn't mind being a hypocrite.

Heck I'd donate if she had a chance at being the nominee...

In kind then, I hope. Free condoms for the entire family [&:] .

I think Palin is a shining example.....

...of what's wrong with this country. And by that I mean she's living proof that the stupid people breed more than the smart people. Not necessarily because they *want* to, but because they don't know any better.

... That everyone who doesn't like her just ignore her?

If she is as disliked and unpopular as is claimed, then that might not be a bad idea.  Politicians without support are no threat to anyone.

Who said anything about her being a threat? What has that got to do with anything? She's an object of ridicule, of amusement. I think she's funnier than hell, and evidently a lot of other people think so too. She's a thoroughly unlikable person, a miserable excuse for a human being who has nobody to blame but herself for the ridicule she sets herself up for. I enjoy watching her make an ass of herself. Why would i want to ignore something I find so entertaining?

But hey... how you wish to be perceived is up to you.

Busted. That's me, alright - I actually  do like being perceived as someone who dislikes Sarah Palin, intensely, and has a very low threshold for hypocrisy. I have no problem with that at all.

BTW, it's "lie".

I know; I was making a clumsy play on words by hinting at the double meaning of the word "lie" as it pertains to Sarah Palin. Not very well-played, I suppose.

I hear Todd wasn't too happy though.

Ungrateful bastard should count his blessings.

No worries, it was perfectly played - I got it :-) .

We're on a bridge to nowhere
Come on inside
Taking that bridge to nowhere
We'll take that ride

Some actually don't *want* to be seen as a hypocrite, though.

*shrugs*  Sorry, but that's the impression I get.  People who stoop to personal attacks and insults appear to feel threatened.  Take it or leave it.

That isn't how it's coming across.  As I said in my original post, the majority of comments here are reminiscent of the petty sniping done by the likes of high school girls who want to make themselves feel better by putting down someone else.  If that is how you wish to be perceived, then more power to you.

You can, of course, depend up the defense of fellow snipers... but I would imagine they'd say anything to justify their own behavior.

No, it wasn't.

Perhaps not, but we don't always get what we want in life.  [;)]

I really think you're misunderstanding the majority of posts here. You needn't feel threatened by someone to poke fun at them. You simply have to have the belief that they are so utterly ridiculous that you find them entertaining.

Personally, I find it HILARIOUS that a politician would say the things she said during the campaign and still expect us to believe she's got a brain. She honestly should have stopped her 'limelight quest' after she became a beautyqueen. She doesn't have the smarts to be anything else. I'm not threatened by any beautyqueen, but that doesn't stop me from laughing at them when they say and do stupid things.

I think the better analogy would be a group of high school students taking satisfaction from watching the school bully fall on her face. Because ever since she took the podium in St. Paul, Palin has been playing the bully. That's the role she chose. You want to cast the bully as a victim, go ahead. But remember what you said about how people will perceive you based on your positions.

It's difficult to make factual arguments against arguments based upon one's imagination. I won't try.

If that is the way you perceive it, then I can understand you standing up for your particular brand of "entertainment".

Me, personally... I don't go that route.  I find vindictiveness to be a failing in most cases.

I understand, but it doesn't take much imagination to read the excuses made here.

LaTigresse -> RE: America's favorite drama queen in the news again (6/23/2009 11:45:59 AM)

I find it ultimately hysterical that anyone would think that ridiculing a person, means you are threatened by them. If that is the best defense a Palin supporter can come up with to attempt to stop the ridicule, well.............that just says an awful lot about their reasons and rational for supporting her. None of it impressive.

Hell, I voted for Bill Clinton and I can find many good reasons to ridicule him. I am secure enough in my own intellect to do both. Much like I can find humour in my own personal faults and screw ups.

Let's face it, Sarah Palin, for whatever good qualities a person might see in her (though I've yet to personally) is a deeply flawed individual that put herself AND her family in the public eye. If she didn't want to be the butt of jokes and ridicule, she should have stayed in hiding, in Alaska, cooking her moose chili.

I know that I, and my life, (as most of us here) would not stand up well to public scrutiny. Which is why I have not done anything to put myself on such a public stage. She did. Now she, and those in her life, pay the consequences. Such is life. Was she too stupid to realize the consequences? Perhaps so. Regardless, it is now a done deal. Her supporters can get their undies bunched all they want. I find her alternately disgusting and hysterically funny. Just depends on moment and whatever rediculous shit she comes up with. She's sort of my political version of Britney Spears.

Here is your continued misconception. One need not be vindictive to laugh at someone. Vindictive would be if her party won and the dems were upset and looking to tear down every little thing she did (kinda like Repubs are doing to Obama). What we're doing is sad ridicule....where we shake our heads and say "What random thought in her head made it sound like a good idea to drag that hillbilly family onto the world stage? I mean seriously? A HUGE proponent of abstinence always works and yet she has the greatest example that it does not work......her own knocked-up, unwed-mother daughter.

Every time Bush and company preached abstinence over the past 8 years, everyone with half a brain said "Abstience doesn't work when you have hormones flaring and urges going wild." Everyone but the abstinence proponents understand this. People like Palin do not.

~FR~

Is it an indication of anything that this topic has as many posts as the one about Iran, less than the one about N Korea or some of the economy issues?

Is America addicted to drama?

I don't believe anyone here is defending Palin... or even claimed to be a Palin supporter.

What I have done is point out how this kind of giddy free-for-all reminds me of the behavior of putting someone else down in order to elevate yourself.

If you find Palin to be ridiculous, and if you're the type of person who enjoys ridiculing people, then I can see where you might feel you are perfectly justified in any comments you make.  At least you're honest about it and appear to recognize that others would find you just as ridiculous were you to open yourself to that kind of exposure.

Who said we were elevating ourselves?

I'm of the firm believer in the phrase "If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?"

Well, I laugh at myself all the time. So that gives me carte blanch to laugh at anyone else of my choosing. And when someone presents themselves so readily for ridicule while trying to be serious....it's game on.
