I do take blank profiles as a warning, it implies everything I don't want in a friend or partner: lack of effort, lack of things to say, secrecy, viewing self-expression as unimportant, reliance on vital statistics and/or photo to attract, inability to read and write...

Even more perplexing to me are the utterly blank profiles -- no statement, no interests listed, zip, nada. Why even bother?

i agree about the blank profiles. How in the world is someone supposed to get an idea if there are any common interests if there is just nothing to read? i pass them on by......

i don't need a photo because looks are waaaay down on my list of qualities; it's the "energy" and the "chemistry" of the Power Exchange, and O/our personalities, that is more important to me.

Submotive -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/24/2006 8:56:32 AM)

i had a picture of me from the neck down on my profile. i got many responses with that. i don't like to advertise my face because i work with the public and am not into everyone knowing things about me i haven't chosen to give them. But once i begin communication i'm happy to send a face shot.

HoosierScorpio -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/24/2006 12:51:32 PM)

You also have to remember some may not use their pictures for fear of being outdid or the X getting a hold of it. I know some who have gone through a bitter custody battle and will use them win custody of the kids. I just read a newspaper article that a Divorce lawyers working for the X could request your internet provider to give up records on your internet usage. Allot of people do not want their family find out what they are into so they do not use their picture on profiles. I would use as guidelines if they go to local munches and events because people will know people from there. The community is small and some one will know something about some one. Some who do not might be a re flag for they could isolate so they can hide the abuse. This may or may not be the case but it better than no way to determine some ones truthfulness being in the lifestyle in my opinion. ScorpioMaster

No picture? Is this a Warning for Some?

After reading all the posts in this this thread and hearing all the nasties that no profile and no pic represent to most, what i would like to know is: are these conclusions based on a couple of experiences, numnerous experiences or purely assumptions.

what degree of probability is "no profile no pic" going to be a waste of time.

orfunboi -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/24/2006 9:07:30 PM)

All it tells me, is they don't want to post their pic. There could be a hundred reasons why, and i could honestly care less. By the time i meet someone, i will know what they look like.

Cacodylic... why does someone not including weight in their profiles bother you so much? where you attacked by a fat person once? or are you so superficial that you need to know weight before even being a friend? by being so damn judgemental you are missing out on knowing some good people. just because they don't put weight on their profile does not mean he or she is fat. you were not put on this earth to judge people. and i highly doubt you are a judge in court. as for the picture thing.... does it matter how pretty or ugly someone is to befriend them? if you are looking for some bombshell blonde or blazing brunette then you are in the wrong place. models don't chat on collarme. get over it and get over yourselves. yes imma bbw and proud of it... i don't include my weight because i was taught MEN should NOT EVER ask a ladies weight or age. nor should she ever tell. its no ones business but mine what weight i am. i don't like nor want to be judged prematurely because some ass thinks im too fat for him.

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/24/2006 11:05:04 PM)

I have a Dom friend who introduced me to the CM site and his advice to me was to not post pic as he felt that it would be unwise at first to do so considering my novice status.I felt he was correct in his advice.Especially now when it was recently circulated in my place of business a certain executive had posted on match.com.and his profile made the rounds within the company. Can you imagine if your profile from collarme made the rounds in your company, the repercussions it would create?I have a picture available and have sent it ,however I tend to be selective to whom and when it is sent...be well..Tempting.

Good answer, twisted......[:D]......as for myself, not one person in the world will ever know my weight or my age before they go to their grave, or i do. Having said this, i do put a full-length photo in my profile so that no one is surprised........

And, as a matter of fact, there are some who prefer those of us with heft. There are chubby-chaser clubs all over the world that tell that truth. And in my part of the world, 80%--90% of the womyn submissives/slaves that attend the local BDSM parties are well-padded. Why? Because we can be beat on for days without bleeding to death.......[:)]......stated tongue-in-cheek, of course......

I'd be considered overweight about 30 pounds, most people are. But it's anyones right to only want to enter a relationship with certain body types. Some people aren't looking for friends, there looking for eventual sexual relationships. So, I'm not sure why not wanting to talk to people who don't meet your requirements is wrong. I have my limits, and honestly I'm not looking for cyber-friends, I talk on the forum because sometimes, I learn something, and sometimes it's funny. Besides that I'd only want to talk to potential matching sub women(mental and physical). There's nothing wrong with that, this coming from a person that wouldn't pass Cacodylic weight criteria. Oh well.

RavenMuse -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/25/2006 5:01:36 AM)

Weight by itself tells you NOTHING really. How it is distributed and the fat/muscle ratio can make too much of a diffrence. Fat weighs less than muscle for a start so you can actualy tone up and end up heavier than when you started!

All these height/weight charts are full of crap because they don't take any of that into account. 20 years ago I was heavier than I am now and then I didn't have an ounce of fat on me.... can't make that claim any more, yet I weigh less because I don't carry as much muscle.

i certainly don't want to speak for twisted faery because i'm sure she is perfectly capable of doing that for herself, but i'm up and on-line and would like to throw my .02 in.

It wasn't so much that cacodylic isn't entitled to date, bed, or wed the object of his desire, it's the way he presented the whole weight concept.

his words were:
"My own personal alarm bell is when there is no weight listed... makes me tend to assume the worst [I like skinny]."

You see, there is a judgement call in that sentence. If there is no weight listed, then he assumes the worst: fat being the worst.

If his preferences are along another line, then i'm glad for him. But there's no reason for anyone to be downgraded just because they aren't the epitome of someone else's idea of desire. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is it not? The last Dominant i was with absolutely loved being with me because of my size, and didn't feel the need to demean those who were much thinner.

And being a fat womyn, i don't appreciate being called "the worst".....[>:]......

Hmmm, I read the post and didn't pick up on the insult. I guess I can read it now that you pointed it out.

But I think it is true usually just the heavier women don't put weight in there for whatever reason or they have a pic that makes it evident. I take it the same way that they are probably on the fluffier side if weight isn't disclosed. So, that is probably where it was coming from. As skinny women generally put that in there.

You are right on RavenMuse. Someone very close to me once confided her weight to me and I was just shocked by it. She was a size 5 and weighed over 170 lbs. She was also a competition bodybuilder. Now going on weight alone, most people would have thought she was seriously overweight.

I don't put my weight on my profile, but I do have current pictures of myself on there. The reason that I don't list the weight in number has nothing to do with any attempt at deception on my part. The fact is that my weight is a constantly changing thing. I have an area of fluctuation of about 10 lbs either way at almost any given time. So if I listed it on Monday, chances are that by Friday it would be deceptive.

Not to mention that I also think it is on the rude side to ask someone their weight, as someone already mentioned here. THAT should not be a criteria in making new acquaintances. Granted, physical attraction is important, which is why I do post my pictures...but that is only important when considering a potential partner...not when making a new friend.

That is a very big assumption.

Are we not allowed to have preferences?

Prunesquallor -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/25/2006 6:28:32 AM)

I think photos are of very limited usefulness anyway. In my experience, most women post photographs that are about twenty years old. Not saying that is a general rule, but it has been my experience.

She was refering to the "Assume the WORST" part.... just because it isn't to your taste doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them.

I'm sure some skinny gal might take it personaly if I where to describe skinny as annorexic and my WORST assumption just because I find too thin to be more of a turn off than too large.

michaelGA -> RE: No picture is this a Warning for Some? (2/25/2006 6:36:06 AM)

i have a couple of points i would like to address in regards to this topic:

most people that don't post pics at least have something written on their profiles, what about those don't provide any information at all?

what's with that?

and why is it that only pic profiles are displayed at the top of the screen? aren't the others important also?

what's with that?
