So on my way to drop my wife off to the train every morning, I pass a Woman's Clinic.  Roughly every 3 days or so, there is a group of 5 to 10 people out in front with signs protesting abortion.

Without anyone getting too upset, I would like to know if kinky people are more tolerant about abortion.  Are you pro, or anti- abortion?  If you happen to be anti-abortion, what are your views on birth control methods?

Just really curious about this....

My "kink factor" or lifestyle choices don't affect my political views. As far as the abortion issue goes I am very much pro-choice but that does not mean that I think it is justified that women don't take personal responsibility BEFORE having to sex to ensure that pregnancy does not occur.

Pro choice.

You'll find this environment is split down the middle just like any other. Just search for any of the threads here about abortion to see this and it usually doesn't end well.

Precisely. And I wish people who are anti-choice stopped calling themselves pro-life, as if they were trying to imply that by being pro-choice, one is somehow pro-death.

Probably this would be a more accurate reflection if it were a poll and people could vote anonymously.

Okay Time to crack the knuckles and hunker down cause this will piss off some people.

I am Pro-Responsibility.

This means most would say I am Pro-Life. I believe it is a choice but I believe it is one that has become to easy and I for one woud love to see this "Choice" regulated.

I would love to see that an Abortion cost as much as a Pregnancy. Maybe then the 3 dollar box of condoms or $15.00 Monthly Pill or Shot would not look so bad.

For those who disagree I wish that Abortions were Free and Granted and paid for by the state and after Two or Three the reserve the right to remove your ability to have children as you obviously do not want them.

I would love to see that having an abortion would be considered a Serious SURGURY and after two or three the only option being to remove the ability to have children all together as again it is OBVIOUS that you do not want them.

I would love to see people take responsibility for their actions and stop seeing the act of pregnancy as a non-issue. It is a HUGE issue, I won't go back and forth on when a fetus is an life or what kind of life that fetus would have should it become a full term baby or if it is better to abort a fetus known to have serious issues and birth defects knowing that you are not in a position to care for a special needs child. What I will discuss is that the effect of unprotected sex can and often is pregnancy, the effect of pregnancy can be and offten is a HUMAN CHILD. If you did not want that child then there are simple precautions that can and should be made, most free clinics will give you free birth control. If you are alergic to Latex you can get non latex condoms and if you are alregic to those (Like Myself) you start learning to accpet the repercussions of your actions.

People reading this will think I am Anit-Abortion. This is not true, Pregancy from Rape, Forced Incest, Broken Condom, or being the .01% that the condom failed I think they aborting something that was in reality NOT their fault is comepletely acceptable. I also believe that anyone who gets in over their head and is just stupid should have the ability to abort the child but I think it should come at a cost and I don't mean Dollars and Cents I mean that having an abortion should not just be another form of birth control. I think Abortion is the most extream option when it comes to dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. I would rather it were adopted, even if it were a Rape or Incest Baby, but either way would be something that would be the choice of the parent.

Now here is where I piss people off. In this day and age so few people are held accountable for their actions, there are so many quick fixes out there that things like abortion become part of the same line of precautions as Condoms, and The Morning After Pill. Guess what abortion is the definant termination of an eventual life when it happens. Who knows if a week later she would miss-carry, who knows if the child would be still born, no one knows but at the time of abortion it is known that the life is starting and it is being terminanted with knowledge of that they are removing something living from their body.

I would just like to see more people take responsibility for their actions, if that makes me Satan I would rather be the Devil than live my life without a moral compass.

Steel, I agree about the responsibility thing.  Abortion SHOULD NOT be a form of birth control

How far do you as the doctor debate this responsibility with the patient wanting the abortion, are you going to demand they tell you which brand of condoms the patient bought to ensure they didn't just opt for the cheap and nasty ones? Although this idea of responsibility is commendable I don't think it's realistic or practical to make such distinctions.

Under this system the result will be that the majority will say the condom split so where will this get you? You may as well not make such a distinction in the first place.

Also If you were the victim of a rape perhaps you would just want the nightmare to end on day five rather than reliving it for nine months with pregnancy as the reminder. Adoption doesn’t come into easing the consequences of that act.

fast reply~

I am pro choice. I am pro responsibility.

I have had to make the *choice* before (while using both pill and condom, condom broke, I had been ill the week before, being niave and 18 I did not realize I was most likely throwing up my pill.. At least this was all we could deduce)

Given the *choice* again, for me, at this time in my life, I am 100% pro life. I am also not on the pill any more (after 8 years on, plus one choice, I was staring to worry about my ability to bear when the time came). I will take full responsibility for my decisions to not be on BC when the time comes.

Their body, their creation, their choice.

Yeah but Steel, where's the father of the child in all of this cost and taking away the ability to have children.  You can't put ALL of the responsibility on the vessel carrying simply because its convenient.  The mother is a vessel -- the father needed input (no pun in tended) to create the fetus that is being aborted. Sure its easy to place the blame and complete responsibility on the vessel -- but what people refuse to acknowledge and they always say well if the woman has too many then she should have the ability to have choldren removed ---- sorry but, this is NOT a one person party.

How many men out there have 3-6 kids all with different mothers who refuse to pay for all or any or some of them?  How many of these men pay the pregnancy costs?  Do you know how many MEN advocate women having abortions of their fetus'?

As to the topic, i also don't agree with it being birth control but I am pro choice and as many have said pro-responsibility for BOTH involved NOT just the vessel who carries -- i do not condone abortion because i think there are so many couples out there who really do want a child and can't have any, but i do understand having an abortion.  I think however people (not just the mother) should have the option of choice.  Its really easy to say let's do A, B, and C and focus on the mother as the wrong doer using same for birth control, however, the guys did the deed just as much.

I dont see it as him advocating an interrogation by the doctor.. just that people should be aware of what is available and useful to them on a personal basis.  For instance... Steel knows he is allergic to latex/alternative condoms.  So he takes OTHER steps to be responsible.
If ya wanna fuck your brains out.. fine.. just be aware and responsible enough to make the right choices to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
