dont you just love these canadians that think they know what is best for America and what Americans think.

Just for the record, Im not Canadian, and I will give my opinion wether its regarding america, UK, canada or the middle of africa...theres this thing, its called freedom of speech, perhaps you heard of it?
As for knowing whats best for the US? no... not in the slightest,  I know I would like to see my friends  who live there to be able to afford healthcare that wont bankrupt them or worse be denied by a freaking bean counter.
IF you wanna insult me go right ahead, but get your facts straight first.

Arpig,
Both you and Lucy claim to have no interest in the number of people who showed up .... you have no belief that they are of any consequence ..
I guess my question is why are you guys continuing to post in this thread, and minimizing the rally and their issues, especially if you "really aren't all that interested" in the subject?
Firmok

Apart from the subject title, which clearly wasnt meant for a deep meaningful discussion, my interest came in the fact that it was established pretty early on that the numbers were being  pumped up by the right to the point of absurdity. Theres such a huge gap between 70,000 and 1.5 million.  Call it a truth thing if you like..

Mars I kinda alluded to the size thing here  http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=2803668  regarding internet guestimating.

My internet was down for a day and a half, ...just catching up
Lucy

It seems my point in starting this thread has been missed on the left and right alike. So, while it may be tilting at windmills, I'll try once more:

It doesn't matter if 60,000 people showed up or 6,000,000 people showed up.
It doesn't matter if I refer to the protesters as Tea Party Patriots or Teabaggers
It doesn't matter if there is a groundswell of support because of the protest or if it is ignored
and, for the purposes of this thread,
It doesn't matter if I think these guys are the saviors of our country or a bunch of misguided assholes.

What DOES matter is that this group was afforded the same right to peacefully assemble, speak as they wished and petition the government for redress of their grievances. They were given every right, privilege afforded to demonstrators on the right. There was no attempt to silence them, harass them, bar them or in any other way give them less than their due as Americans.

I view this as a very good thing all the way around. First is that this is the way the country is supposed to work. Second is the admittedly small hope that at least some of those railing about how this evil democratic administration is trying to silence them will take this as proof that that particular accusation is patently absurd.

All else is fun and games, as far as I'm concerned.

careful, there, OP.

someone here who knows what  MMPI tests and a "Spike 4" on said test are could argue that you made a very important point long ago, andin fact that point?  It was bigger than you yourself could forsee (and thus you missed it yourself), and now you are sitting on top of tht real point having a picnic and eating a lovely slice of boysenberry cobbler with clotted cream,

like a Lilliputian sitting on the bum of Gulliver, but (t)  Gulliver's Butt is so big the picnic lad thiks he's just sitting on one hillock that abutts (pun intended) another.
