Status: offline 		Well, then it looks like they have made several attempts.  I guess the time element and the fact that I am not personally involved with anyone in the case still leaves me indifferent.  I find Kirata's link about Polanski's Lost Alibi interesting, too.  Being in the 70's back then, he might have beaten the rape charge, despite the victim's fresh assault and her sulleness that was mentioned in a previous post on this thread.  Now though...and being Wells did lie on a documentary discreditting himself, well....it is a lost alibi.

Status: offline 		I've got to find the article/blog/whatever that posed this question: What if it were "Father Polanski" rather than "Director Polanski"? The Vatican did a great job for decades, dare I say, potentially centuries, of pushing child molesters and pedophiles around to escape punishment. When that was exposed, the world erupted in anger and demanded retribution and justice. Why is this any different?


I'll add that the issue here isn't going back over the trial. It's Polanski running to avoid sentencing. So drop the stuff he admitted (horrible and vile as it is) to and let's  focus on this simple bit.

If any criminal who pleads guilty, runs from their sentencing date, it is the job of our law enforcement to find them and to arrest them again and hold them to the fullest extent of the law. Period. This is the only thing that counts here.

Status: offline 		It's all right here Kirata. It said the mother agreed to lesser charges because just like Linnea, she didn't want to drag her daughter through a trial. She accepted the lesser charges.

And the mother and daughter then sued Polanski in civil court, and were awarded a monetary settlement, which I believe he has not paid, at least I sorta remember reading it on Yahoo news.

And the reason people are so "up in arms" and Irrational" is because raping a child, which is what he did in the ass, he didn't just fondle her boobs, is a major violation. She said "get away from me." That is saying "no." Once she says "no" it's rape no matter how old she is. And if she is drugged, given alcohol and then raped....he deserves a LOT more than 42 days in a psyche ward, and the judge CLEARLY saw that. Which is why he did not accept the reccomeded sentence.

Just so you are all clear, child molesters never stop with one kid.

There was a fellow in the paper here in COlorado on Saturday who was convicted of child molestation, he groomed a boy accross the street for many months who then performed sex acts on the molester. The convicted molester asked the judge for a life sentence, because he knows he cannot control himself.

In jail, child molesters often get beaten to death, because even CONVICTS KNOW that child molesters are some of the most evil people on the planet. Their disease never goes away and children are ALWAYS in danger if they are allowed to remain in society.

And the children, are almost always damaged for life, and rarely are capable of enjoying normal sex acts, particularly oral sex. Can you imagine life without oral sex? Do you know how many years and how much psyche work it took for me to be able to tolerate it? Let alone enjoy it? It is a major trust in humans issue that is broken and almost impossible to "fix."

And Anjelica Houston HAD to say she thought the girl was 24, or she would have been arrested and charged as an accomplice.

And you cannot judge a child's state of mind by how they look for photographs, especially a child being groomed for stardom. She was trained to "look good" for a camera, and many children smile when they are nervous.

I don't know why this has to be to effing complex. He ran from the law, and needs to be sentenced. No more, no less.
