Last week, the right-wing media outlet Newsmax — which receives 4 million unique monthly visitors and 130,000 print subscribers — published a column by conservative author John Perry arguing that a military coup could “resolve” the “radical left…Obama problem.” After being widely criticized, Newsmax retracted the column. However, the column appears to have encouraged an already angry group of anti-Obama radicals who have been plotting violence against the government. While discussing the Newsmax column on his XM Sirius radio show last week, Michelangelo Signorile heard from a caller, “Jim from Oklahoma,” who explained that the idea of a coup is already being planned by a group of at least 200 people:
Pulling our government down, pulling our President out, and putting him back where he should be [...] [using] the right to bear arms, it’s in the Constitution. [...] We need a coup, there needs to be a coup and if the United States military won’t do it, we’ll do it.
Jim confirmed that he was “dead serious.” Although he was coy about specific details, Jim said that he was motivated by homophobia and an interest in bringing back slavery. A second caller confessed that her own mother has been scheming against the government because she has been captivated by racist thoughts and a belief that “Jesus is coming to overthrow Barack Obama.” She pleaded for people to recognize the extremist threat against Obama. Watch it
You can find the whole thing on Thinkprogress web site, I have no idea who or what Newsmax is, but it's getting a little out of control, and I think race is playing a huge part in this in parts of our country.

Wasn't Chuck Norris saying the same thing shortly after the election? Loads of blather about Texas leaving the Union and there being terrorist armed secessionist camps devoted to defending America against Obama's hideous evil.

'The Octogon' is probably the last time Chuck Norris was relevant. Nevertheless, you can't keep some people from talking.

You would have thought he could have been done for treason over that crap, even if he was talking out of his arse. Puts all of this talk about Obama being a Nazi into perspective, doesn't it?

On a less funny note, they arrested a couple of skins who were planning to shoot Obama at the inauguration, didn't they? I'm assuming these lads would have boneheads rather than the SHARP lot.

I wonder of Misters Perry and Signorile enjoyed their chats with the Secret Service.

Nah, it really is a little different in America, you can't (and this dates me) call Helmut Kohl a cocksucker on any streetcorner in Germany, and not expect CREPO to bludgeon you posthaste, and you can't yell thru the iron gates of Windsor at the queen, offering to smell her used panties without having to sit at Old Bailey for a 'arf a mo'.......nowadays, you can't threaten the president's life without having to have a talk with some folks, but you can pretty much do anything less than that without raising too many eyebrows.

Tell that to Natalie Dixie Chicks.

Gotta admire the guts on that one!

Well, Natalie Mains didn't threaten the president, she just said she was embarrassed to be from the same state as he was.  Funny how popular her comment would have been if she'd just made it 3 or 4 years later, lol.

willbeurdaddy -> RE: The crazies are coming out of the and they have radio to support them (10/8/2009 1:19:13 PM)

where is "radio supporting them"?

tazzygirl -> RE: The crazies are coming out of the and they have radio to support them (10/8/2009 1:20:05 PM)

And got a world of backlash for her personal opinion. I am glad she stood up for herself.

Maybe, but I would have been much more impressed if she hadn't turned around and apologized.

tazzygirl -> RE: The crazies are coming out of the and they have radio to support them (10/8/2009 2:30:16 PM)

Then she took it back...

Did she? I hadn't heard that, but it is nice to know.

~FR~

Before this gets spun that all conservatives would support this, I would like to say if I were armed and this coup happened around me, I would defend Obama. Likely with my life I would defend him, but then again I believe in old style support of our country, it's flag, and our President. Don't like Obama or much of what is going on, but that does not keep me from being an American. If citizens are so outraged, then vote him out next election and vote some of his political supporters out next year.

Her song.. "not ready to make nice"... yeah... she took it back...

Maines also retracted her earlier apology to President Bush, stating, "I apologized for disrespecting the office of the President, but I don't feel that way anymore. I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."[68]

Bush was born in Connecticut.
He's just another low i.q. "legacy admission" to "Yale".
What's really funny was that John "French" Kerry scored lower than Bush in school.
And look at Ted Kennedy's kid Patrick "Patches" Kennedy, boy congressman in R.I. He's a borderline retard, drunk and druggie.
He went to Philips - Andover academy, all the scions of the wealthy go there and many of them go on to places like Harvard, Stanford, Tufts etc and where did Patches go,....."Providence College!" lol
"Hey Mom, Dad, I got ex-cepted to Provi-dunce College!" "Whoo Hoo, I'll be killing what brain cells I have left tonight, back up that Chivas Regal truck I'm going to blotto land!!!"
To this day Phillips-Andover or Providence College still won't release young Patche's grade transcripts.
And Ted would often tell young Patches, "Hey! Go get me another drink, what do you think you're doing here?"
