I see this as more of an anti incumbent, balance the scales vote, than an anti Obama vote.

There must be a full moon.

I can actually say I'm in agreement with you on something.

No he didn't Sanity. In fact, he was never at those states. That is a conspiracy created by the right.

So?

While I didn't research it, I think it can be safely assumed that Bush campaigned for a lot of losing candidates as well.

No, I thought you were singing the opposite tune.

That it was an anti-Obama vote.

"more of" were the operative words, modifying the sentence to the point I could throw my weight behind it, and of course I conditioned my agreement with subrobs' sentiments even further in post 19.

Hey Sanity, why aren't you talking about the amazing showing of the tea party candidate in the NY 23rd? You know the seat the Secretary of the Army gave up because it was a safe seat and there was no way a Democrat would win a special election there? The one where all the far right heavyweights got involved?

What about it ken?

An unknown Conservative made  a great showing there against all odds... and last I heard it wasn't necessarily over.

NY-23 was a safe GOP district and the tea partyers have given it to the Democrats. NJ and VA were about local politics. NY-23 is the one about national issues and it is the one the conservatives aren't winning.

A Conservative and a Republican are splitting the votes there ken. And it was only a Republican district because the Republican there was a Rino.

For a true Conservative to make such a strong showing in NY-23 is comforting to me. Its a strong statement in opposition to Liberals everywhere, and one that needed to be made.

I'll go even further than that - Bush is a Liberal in my opinion, and so is McCain, and thats exactly why McCain lost. I'm much more Conservative than either of them and I think we're going to find out that a lot of people are in 2010.  Obama is pushing the country back towards center, a place he knows absolutely nothing about.

In fact, Republicans would have won it easily, as a very popular candidate chosen locally ran----until national Conservatives falsely connected her to ACORN, killing her fundraising, and trashing local representation in favor of their national agenda.

Geez, when even Newt Gingrich says it's dumb...and for probably the first time ever, I agree with him.

When you're agreeing with Newt its because Newt is making a huge mistake which, he's only human. He's allowed, from time to time.

Actually this will be the first time since 1871 that that geographic area has beenrepresented in Congress by a non Republican. That's got to be considered a safe seat by any standard. McHugh's margin's of victory had been on the order of 20+ points.

This was about the national GOP brand and the far right lost.

Not this time, though.

Care to suggest a new paradigm. We have a two party system, some would say what we have reached here in terms of the "left" and the "right" is inevitable.
While we can hope that the better angels of our nature allow us to rise above such petty labels......holding ones breath awaiting such an occurrence is not to be encouraged.

They were elected based on platforms that distinguish the pArties. Tax and spend vs fiscal conservatism. There is no need to rehash that here.

Since you're so happy about the two governorships that the conservatives have won, care to tell me what you think is going to happen in NJ and VA because of it? I would like to hear what you think that this great victory is going to accompish in those states. What do you expect of your favored sons?
