ORIGINAL: Musicmystery What's sad, kitten, is the knee-jerk closing of ranks, lining up behind the ridiculously ignorant babble this gal spouts. I have to agree. Aside from joking about her being fuckable, Sarah Palin scares me. But first, in all fairness, some of her policy views are not that far off the wall. Obama himself argued that having troops tied up in Iraq was the wrong focus, that the real job was in Afghanistan, and if you agree with that then we need to commit the resources necessary to getting the job done. Personally, I think they're both wrong. I'd like to see us get out of there. But that's another story. On corporate taxes, she's right that our corporate tax rates are a brake on the economy. But again, I would disagree when it comes to debating how high or low they should be. I think we need to do away with them altogether. Every single nickle of tax that a corporation pays is passed along to consumers in the price of the goods and services the company provides. Corporate taxes are nothing more or less than an egregious hidden sales tax on virtually everything we buy, even the most basic necessities of life, and they impact most severely those who are least able to afford them. For me, the truly scary thing about Sarah Palin is her inability to separate her evangelical Christianity from her politics. Her stand on abortion (forbidden except to save the life of the mother) and on teaching creationism in our schools make it frighteningly clear that this woman is utterly blind to the difference between a free republic and a Christian theocracy. And that, ladies and gentlemen, should be the end of the matter by anyone's standards. K.
