LOL! [:D]

What can I say? I work to hard at being me to take such a false accusation.

The last person to argue with my "asshole" self-description just got pissed later when I proved her wrong.

Why is it women never want to take my word for it when I say I'm an asshole? (Rhetorical question. I know most women are nuts anyway.)

Oh, I'll take your word for it, especially the next time a breastfeeding thread comes up. [:D][:D][:D]
The "nice" remark was actually a gentle, subly criticism for your lack of advising the proper way to utilize babelfish to make someone's eyes bleed. [;)]

There's a proper way to make someone's eyes bleed? Is that in the new etiquette book?

Yep. Page 454, under "How to deal with people who annoy you on the internet". [:D]

Well shit, I didn't know that.

It's only 151 deaths of children due to accidental firearm discharge.

Practically a drop in the bucket.

No worries.

Unless it is your child.

I agree with you that losing a child is a tragedy beyond words. I in no way attempted to trivialize child fatalities. I find your sarcasm somewhat disingenuous.

Are you suggesting that the primary focus of reducing child fatalities should be accidental firearm discharge and that the most time, effort and attention should be spent on attempting to save the 2-3 one thousandth's of 1% of children who will likely die this year due to this rather than focusing on the much greater causes of child fatality such as motor-vehicle accidents, disease, drowning, poisoning or even firearm-related homicides (which are mostly due to gang-related activities)?

Or are you attempting to use a particularly heart-rending situation as an emotional appeal to ignore the statistics on the matter in an attempt to forward a point of your own?

It's the classic ploy of the gun control fanatic. Same clichéd argument we've heard for decades. As long as this is the best they can muster my right to own a firearm is in no danger.

I never knew a child's life could be viewed as a cliche.

I like you too much to leave you out there on your own. I've got to back you up. Tell you what - just give these women my e-mail address, and I'll tell 'em all what an asshole you are.

Especially the good-looking women.

Eh. That's ok. It doesn't take long for them to find out. It's usually entertaining too.

Will according to the CDC in the year 2000 only 409 kids between 1 and 14 were killed by accidental discharge of firearms heh what’s a little number like 409, just a drop in the bucket, excess population anyway, I mean are there no County Hospitals, are there no wooden coffins in the morgue? I mean we do pay taxes for such things.

Laymendown

Why did you go with the year 2000? Seems like one would want a more up to date figure, has this figure been higher or lower since 2000? What is it for this year?

Just to put things in perspective 415 were struck by lightning in 2000.

Just to put things in perspective, lightning strikes are not preventable unless you never allow your children outside when there is a cloud in the sky.

Children getting killed by careless gun ownership is completely preventable.

Here is something else you and I agree on. It really irks me when she does that. I think she does it to enjoy a self satisfied - "I just insulted them and they don't know it" - smirk.

Exactly. I just see it for what it is -- she's saying something she doesn't have the balls to say in a language that others, including the mods, can understand. Really kinda cowardly if you think about it. But then as others have pointed out - she *is* french.

Ah the jingoistic American...lovely. [8|].

Yep, I recommend mandatory parenting classes for everyone who has children. Fail the classes, and CPS takes your kids.

lol... if she lives in the bad area she says she does then time for bars...many people do it...just get good fire alarms.

Those steel scissors grates are hideous. They would ruin the value of my property. But wrought iron could be stylish. Only they can't be fixed. Fire reguations. No locks, either. They have to open. Those steel gratings have a quick release thing that can't be operated from the outside. I don't know of any wrought iron window gates with that feature. I'd be willing to look, though. When can I expect your check?

So is children getting killed in car accidents, children drowning in the bathtub and children ingesting poisons, all of which happen more often.  I get uncomfortable with the "children are dying" or "one child is too many" arguments because that doesn't really seem to be the case.  Children die in car accidents, so we mandate child safety seats, have classes on how to use them properly, and you can go down to your local fire station or police station to have them checked.  Children drown in tubs, so we inform parents on how quickly it can happen and teach them to never leave your child alone even for a second, even in just one inch of water.  Children die from poisons, so we make special locks for cabinets, make manufacturers label medical instructions on their products and have poison control on the little sticker on the phone.  No one is arguing that cars are bad and no one should have them, or that bathing your children is endangering their very lives, or that cleaning products are immoral and should be banned or heavily restricted.  If the real goal is to save children's lives, wouldn't there be campaigns against the top 10 child killers, or even just the top 3?

What's money?? Money is food, warm clothing in the winter, the mortgage, health insurance, you know, the stuff your family needs that you can't pay for with leaves you pick off trees. WTF is your problem? Is no sacrifice too much if it lessens the possibiliby of some asshole begging to be shot getting his wish?

Well, I could be be wrong but I would be willing to wager she never had any balls.

Unless you have some insight into her genitalia that I don't know about.

How about we try mandatory classes for parents to learn how to keep guns securely away from children?

News 14 | 24 Hour Local News

JACKSONVILLE – An Onslow County family is mourning after a 3-year-old child accidentally shot himself Monday.

Investigators say the boy found the gun on a table and accidentally shot himself in the forehead at the Kantor Hills subdivision just outside of Jacksonville.

I relayed this thread incident to my 99 yr old grandmother...yesterday and she said

"If yer gonna do er... do er good..........make sure he ain't talkin' when yer done"

She by the way keeps a 357 MAGNUM under pillow and a machete in her flour drawer.

I have to say, GM, your grandmother sounds like an amazing woman with a good head on her shoulders.

To Orion; you did the right thing, and there's absolutely no question in my mind about that. The dipshit had it coming to him, and your family is blessed to have you as their guardian.

*edited to add..... I just saw the mention of the intruder being a raccoon. I stand by my previous statement.
