I don't let society tell me what I should be ashamed of, what I should or shouldn't do in my own home, or what I should think about others lives. I think anal sex is no more taboo than incest between consenting adults. That might make me 'boring' because I think 'naughty things' are stupid, but I haven't had any complaints yet.

Why anyone would allow others to define their lives for them by using the word 'taboo' and 'fascinating' in the same sentence is beyond me. I prefer people who are original, or at least their own person, not someone who is easily influenced by what others say they should be doing to fit in.

My guess would be because it is associated with male to male sex and in many cultures one man taking another mans ass is a dominant act. Even in the animal world mounting another male is a sign of dominance. I've certainly seen alpha males in sled dog teams mount other males to show them who is boss.

People are not dogs. Please don't drag animal behavior into a discussion on anal sex. It will only get confusing, unless you are a licensed animal behaviorist able to explain all the little nuances.

In the human world the most physically dominant thing a man can do to another is beat the shit out of him or rape his butt. Just check out your local prison inmate.

When done right it is very pleasurable indeed
patience, lube, being turned on and starting with something small is the way to go,

Look, I can tell you that when I was in So. America and Miguel, the bouncer, was throwing me on the bed and having his way with me, he had never even HEARD of DeSade. 

Domination is about having your way... It is about being confident in what you want, making it happen, being responsible for taking care of what is yours, dealing with consequences. 

In the end, anal sex can be dominating - just by how it feels, how it mechanically works - it's visceral.  Someone can philosophize all they want.  It doesn't change the fact that people do it ... people do lots of sexual things ... because it gives them an "I'm in charge here" rush. 

Just because someone writes about something doesn't mean it all goes back to them as you stated.  It means they wrote down a list.

An interesting question for me is how to deal with an ass whore. To indulge her in her prefference seems to me to be submitting to topping from the bottom, at worst. I'm talking about a bonafide ( no pun intende here eithe ) ass whore who prefers getting boned in the ass even exclusive to other, um, avenues.

Moderation, inthese cases, seems to not work so well. And to think you can subdue areal asswhore with giving her more than she can handle is, perhaps, an illusion. Then, of course, you have the issue of the asswhole permanently stretched to the size of a sink hole thang.

An analogy doesn't require a licence to use. And the behavior is very well documented in human males.

For an average human male, mounting another human male is a conquest-humiliation thing.

What have you been smoking?

First off, her primary preference is you, so if indulging her in her preference is submitting to topping from the bottom, then you're out of the picture as far as dominating with consent goes. Secondly, speaking for myself, if I enjoy it, I enjoy it, and it doesn't impact my enjoyment negatively for her to enjoy it. The discussion here is that you are saying that anal dates back to DeSade.  It doesn't.  *As has been pointed out so eloquently by others*.  It may be that his intellectual discourse was fairly new as far as an analysis is concerned, but the understanding of the domination aspect ... well somebody knew before he knew.
