You think his ambulance was made out of pure gold, and the lights were the rarest jewels? No. In the end he's just a sack of meat, just like you and I and the emergency efforts to keep that meat from rotting is all the same.

Sanity, I'm guessing that even with insurance, the average American couldn't even dream of getting the care Rush and all his millions got. Add in needing treatments approved and it gets even worse. Add to that the fact that the rich and well-connected go to the front of the line and well the average American is left in the dust.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:14:41 AM)

I doubt that very much. Somehow I think he passed people who had been waiting and received treatment faster. I'm betting they were falling all over themselves to treat him. The rich and well-connected just somehow don't seem to wait for treatment as the not-so-rich and unconnected do.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:16:21 AM)

No kittin not as it should be...as it IS. [;)]

Level -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:27:28 AM)

Sanity, I agree that no matter what kind of system is in place, there will be problems. I do disagree about Rush being treated like everyone else; if for no other reason, I tend to think the hospital would bend over backwards to make sure he received superior care, rather than get lambasted on the air by him if he didn't, or God forbid, if they let him croak, they'd forever be known as the hospital that let Rush die.

How many regular joes get to give a press conference???
How many times does it have to be said
hahahahah read somewhere that he must have "swallowed some of his own bullshit, and got indigestion"

The rules for insurance could be tweaked so that more of us could afford it, the premiums could be tax deductible and insurance companies should be allowed to compete across state lines, and we do need tort reform.

But if someone is successful, why are people envious to the point they demand the government tear them down? If I work hard for a premium steak dinner and some crack head is puking their last meal of Olde English 800 into the gutter, then can't afford a real meal afterwards, why should some Gestapo troopers grab me and make me eat at the homeless shelter in order to satisfy the crack head's envy.

Food is as much of a right as health care. BUT if government provides us with everything, we a. Will not have any rights, because the government will be our mother and we will be as children to her, and b. it won't work, literally.

If government gives us everything, who is going to provide the "everything" that government gives us?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. That's why non-millionaires regularly go bankrupt because of a single emergency hospital visit.

You're full of it, and you know it. Limbaugh got the preferential treatment his mountains of dollars provide him. And so it should be, in the land of the free, right?

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:31:41 AM)

And I'm guessing no regular Joe ever will get to make a press conference because I'm guessing it wouldn't be quite the same as the one Rush gave.

Sanity -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:35:21 AM)

I would prefer to live in a land where I have the opportunity to excel, to stand out and above if I have the talent and the drive and I choose to make the necessary sacrifices needed in order to to get there.

You seem to want to live in a gray place, where everyone is kept equally miserable...

It's empty rhetoric that universal healthcare somehow diminishes personal freedoms. And nobody believes that Limbaugh got the same treatment as everybody else. Not even you, but you have to tow the party line, don't you [;)] ?

Sanity -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 8:53:14 AM)

I don't deny that you're envious, which denotes that you're towing your party line.

Because (as we're presently seeing in Congress and the White House), Democrats aren't against enormous greed and wealth and power, there is nothing too luxurious for the group presently occupying Washington.

What the Democrats are against is anyone else enjoying such extravagance.

Conservative is everyone who thinks the way he does, liberal is everyone who doesn't. It's all very simple.

Exactly.
Far left? I'm a fiscal conservative. Even socially, I'm moderate. I do have some progressive positions.

Same here. I criticize Obama as much as i criticize Bush. I look at the gun cabinet in the corner of my bedroom, and wonder how many "far-left" liberals would have an AR-15 rifle, a .357 magnum, a Colt .45, 8 other guns, and 3,000 rounds of ammo? Fiscally, I'm more conservative than any republican politician I can name, I'm pro-life, yet somehow I'm "far left." Only on the other end of the Sanity rabbit-hole is this possible....

Funny- I quit the GOP in the mid-90's because they proved to be such pork-addicted whores, I have owned guns all my life, and as a Scoutmaster taught all the boys how to shoot. I am social moderate, believing in a stable, orderly society of shared ethos and responsibility, and yet am now also a member of the "far left".

In the 1960's, the hippies and social liberals preached a radical individualism, the "Do your own thing" ethos of self-gratification, regardless of the consequences.
Today that very same ethos is preached by the John Galts snarling that they don't wanna pay for anyone else's health care or mortgage.

Envious of what? Of the universal disarray? Of the broken democracy? Of the fuckup the previous guy and his team of corrupt bastards created?

You keep on peddling lies from cloud cuckooland, and you've become incapable of discussing anything without resorting to high school debating societies tactics. In fact, you sound more and more like a Republican pundit. It's very, very sad.

What on earth does that have to do with Rush bypassing the lines to get better care? Furthermore what's the point of living in the land of milk and honey if it's necessary to choose between healthcare and eating/ having a roof over your head.

Sanity -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 9:12:40 AM)

That photo? No, its not off topic, that fit right in. Didn't you get it? That was Obama from his luxurious vacation resort that he flew his entire caravan to.

We were on the subject of extravagant wealth after all, and how some are treated much better than others, and what a pity that is.

I wonder how many carbon offsets that trip is setting him back. You ever wonder that? How many "Hail Gores" that costs him in the confessional booth down at party headquarters?

Sanity -> RE: Rush taken to hospital (1/2/2010 9:18:06 AM)

So what if Rush did get better care, which there is no evidence that he did. Are you jealous? Don't you think that wealthy far left icons might get better care than, say, the homeless?

And in the land of milk and honey if you pay attention in school, you work hard and you keep your nose clean odds are you're gonna be okay.

You might even get rich if you desire it.

Whats wrong with that?

Jealous? Hell no I'm disgusted. Left or right has nothing to do with it. What I'm talking about is the rich and well-connected bypassing those who are on waiting lists. In this case yes it is a far right.....person...passing the lines, but I'm not saying this because he is on the far-right, that isn't why he skipped the lines. His money and connections are.
